No I understand the concept of the proper seating of the bolt, I was curious why the conical wont seat with a ball seat wheel since the conical has a cone which will press evenly on all sides. I see why ball wont work as it cant go inside the hole, hehe.

because the bolt won't seat properly, which means it does not hold the wheel tight against the brake rotor/hub

Actually, they WOULD work. But they wouldn't work RIGHT. Each arrangement is designed to have X amount of metal area with Y amount of clamping pressure distributed across it. When you change the bolt-type, you end up with a very small area of the bolt actually pressing against the seat. This results in 'Y x whatever' force on 'X / whatever' area.

This could be a very bad thing, under certain circumstances. Things could crack, or the bolt might work it's way loose.

 

I received the proper bolts in time, selling the conicals.

 

I actually tried the stock ball seat bolts on aftermarket conical wheels and it actually wouldn't work. The bolt didn't seat deep enough into the wheel and all I could get was about one and a half turns on the threads (you should have three minimum) because the bolt just wasn't long enough. I'm pretty sure that if you got a longer ball bolt it would work, but why do it that way if you're buying new bolts anyway, buy the right ones. Right?

 

you guys all know that VW uses hubcentric wheels, unlike honda which uses bolt centric the type of bolts and seating is more important. Still you should not mix and match as each is engineered to be used a certain way.
