Began gathering all the stuff needed for a new front suspension. Looked in the Bentley for the sizes of all the new nuts, bolts, etc I will need. Some sizes are listed while some are not.

I looked on FCPEuro, ECS, etc thinking they would have everything I needed but no luck.

Does any VW parts company sell a complete hardware kit, or at least list individual pieces so I can figure out what exactly I need ?
If you get desperate, go to the real parts store:

My 1998 GLS and my wife's 2003 GLX both have broken handles. Mine aren't as far back though. The 2 little pins that hold the handle onto the glove box cover broke away from the plastic.
Fortunately the 2 tabs that release the lock mechanism are easily accessible by using the tip of my finger. Functionally the glove box cover is fine, just looks cheesy because the release handle is missing.

I planned on doing an oil change today. Went to spin the new filter on and it wouldn't take. Mobil 1 M1-204A should thread on, but in looking at the old one I took off ( WIX 51355 ), it seems that the threaded center of the WIX is closer to the end than that of the Mobil 1. Has anyone else run into this problem?

Yes!

When I rebuilt my wife's V6 I "adjusted" the threaded nipple outwards about a 1/4" more than it was originally just for that purpose.
There's a ton of threaded portion on both ends of the nipple so not having enough threads is not an issue. Still plenty of threaded engagement into the oil pan to hold the oil cooler.
Now I can use Fram, Wix, Mobil, Mann without any issues.

M1-204 or the extended M1-304 always work for me. Not sure about that trailing ‘A’ - I do t remember that suffix

And, when I replaced the oil cooler gasket/seal I did the opposite - I made sure that the pipe was fully seated. I guess I learned my lesson.

Stripping down the front of the car to get at the timing belt tensioner so I can remove the timing pulleys and loosen the cams to replace the gaskets up there under the cam sensors and the half moon guys... the parts from FCP Euro say they’ll be here around end of March / first week of April, so slow and careful is the plan. I also need to get more bumper shock bolts as I waaay over torqued those bolts last time...yes, I snapped off one of the heads... sheesh..

Didn't you just have the whole front of the car off a couple of months ago?
I seem to vaguely remember that this was part of a 2 part project.

Well, it's not a Passat, but salt we lost another Vw yesterday. Under a pretty bad snow storm my buddy's Jetta wagon slid into a concrete divider and ended up high centered. Totaled the front end, destroyed pretty much everything.

Blew all the airbags and she bled out pretty much every fluid. Sad night.

I did... aaand didn’t think I needed to replace the end caps/gaskets there under/around the cams... turns out they were already leaking at the time and I wasn’t experienced enough to realize the source of those issues - I always thought it was a coolant issue. Once I did fix the coolant issues (plural) then there was only one other possible reason for it... the stuff I thought I could get away with not doing... shockingly, I now have to get back in there lol

Don't feel bad. I replaced the heater core on one of my old Passat's twice (the hard way) due to a bad radiator. You could almost make it 2 1/2 times since once I had it half-way back together and then decided to replace the entire climate airbox since I broke a bracket on one end by shutting a door on it . So off the junkyard to pull a replacement airbox. At that point, I was good at it.

Wow there’s no ‘yikes’ response button. That’s awful.

Got a number of things done, cleaned clay bar and waxed my carbonio intake cover, cleaned my air filter, ordered new rear pads and rotors, drivers heated mirror glass and managed to find a new matching rim on sale at Ecs for $100

Not ‘can you’, but ‘should you’ try to clean an air filter? They’re only $10 to start with, so a new one is cheaper than the time it’ll take... unless it’s a K&N or similar high flow air filter? I used to have one for my V70, but didn’t notice a huge diff in performance.

dayam don’t be postin no metal porn here! Now I need a engine crane...
I should have posted the pictures of the rust free rear twist beam and the metal portion of the front carrier. Maybe Dave can post them once he can walk again!

I'll just have the wife push me through the parking lot to the other end, and I can open up the box van and snap a few pictures real quick like.
That's assuming I can even get into that area. The parking lot at the apartment complex is over capacity at the moment. We got a few spots where some double parking is taking place.
