Forgive me if this is the stupidest question ever asked on this website but is there a way to set my computer to ignore any certain fault code?

Right now my converter is bad, but i don't really care or want to fix it. I'm just sick of the light and i'd like to tell my car to "not worry about it". Is this possible?

Hey at least i didn't ask what kind of oil i should be using

I have heard a rumor that you can essentially bypass the sensor with a some resistors but i can't confirm or even say what would be involved

i examples I've seen in the past with the airbags its was as simple as unplugging the wire harness and then shoving the two leads of a resister into the pins to mimic the temp the sensor should be giving.

Just watch how you "trick" the system. Different states have different methods for passing inspection, I know where I live, the CEL needs to be visible when the key is in the "on" position, but "off" when the car is running in order for it to pass.

I'm currently going through a similar situation with my C5 A6 Avant (3.0L), I haven't tried changing out the O2 yet, but just had the flex pipes welded and the CEL is back on. I suspect the converter is bad, but would like to try and replace the O2 just to make sure. Sooner or later I'll find some time to deal with it, but I've just been clearing the light as it comes on, or driving with it on.

Pesky inspectors, trying to make sure their tests to check the car is working properly are hard to fool. It's not fair!
