As everyone has done before me, so I will do, even if it IS so cliché….I gotta say goodbye. I will now be rolling in a Volvo..yes….a Volvo. No, no “R” either, but a T6 AWD S80. I tried to stay in the VAG family; however, Audi’s ridiculous pricing drove me away, and the GTI would not fit my needs. I committed to an S80 yesterday and I will put Greta to rest tomorrow as I traded her in with 196k on her odometer. :salute:

I joined ClubB5 in ’04 when I bought my 1.8T stock as a pre-owned with 40k miles on it.

I have gone through 6 sets of wheels, 5 sets of suspensions, 2 engines, 2 trannys, 2 interiors, 3 stereos, 4 different intakes, 2 exhausts, 5 sets of headlights, 2 hoods, 4 spray jobs, 3 grills, 3 windshields, about 14 different stickers and have loved every minute of it…..totally said from afar looking back of course.

I met some folks I would have never known or had anything in common with over these last 8 years, had it not been for our VWs. Some were long haired and in love with RX-8s, some were internet trolls wanting to punch things to dust, and yet others were wiring wizards that could walk me through stereo issues during a GTG or even through running my N75 in parallel with my boost controller on a lunch break. Some had their cars burn up do to a bad stereo install, while others have backed into mail boxes at GTGs. There are guys whose cannibalized parts I have on my car, that if I said their name, only a handful would remember them (evilvariant, StlB5). I have been given countless free items too…ranging from a box ‘o spark plugs to a euro power steering cover. Assistance on this board is like no other.

I have smoked out park rangers with Seafoam, go-karted with the best of them and eaten some of the most delicious bacon concoctions and wings, have driven 8 hours to get a set of wheels……TWICE. I saw DrivinaJetta nail a 4x4 in MD, Panassat24 blow a CV joint on 64 and V4Vangelder blow his axles TWICE…..all done at GTGs. I have been sloooooooowly passed by the police while en route to H20i while in line with 6 other PW'ers. I have been pulled for being too tinted, pulled for being too low, pulled for being too low AND tinted. Man….I’ve really had some enjoyable times and met some great folks during my time on the boards.

I learned literally every single trick about turning wrenches on my Passat here. Not a Haynes manual, no Bentley, but ClubB5. I owe countless manhours to ClubB5. Clubb5 in return owes me countless thousands of dollars due to the mods it made me do ;) Thank you all for such a wonderful time….being so quick on the draw to help…..and also to point out flaws. I can only hope there is a similar Volvo forum…..I’ll drop in occasionally, but wanted to let you know how much I appreciated the years of support and help…..friendship, laughs and stupid comments.

Been a blast gents and lady (no particular order):
B-5, VAGguy, R36Dreams, Bullit62, MicBicPic, vuvision, vwb5t, V4VanGelder, gpassat03, Gerwazy, keithwbloom, Fookie......I'll still roll out.....see you next GTG  and on email.

Well buddy, shame to see you leave the VW family, but all good things must come to an end. I wish you all the best.

Now, when are you going to get that S80 reflashed and throw a monster turbo on that bitch.... :driving:

(just checked and IPD has a reflash that is good for 320-335 HP depending on the model year, not bad for a starting point hehe. what model year do you have?)

Coming from the man that has tried some of the largest turbos out there, I should have seen that question coming...lol.

I ain't touching this thing. I'm going to start squirreling some money away for a BT MKIII down the road.

Yeah well, don't let the virtual door hit you on the way out.

oh, sure... I help you figure out how to install your audio system on the phone (with no advance warning) and I don't even get a mention, Scott? :poke:

you'll be back in the VAG fold. ;)

If you ain't touching the Swede, why do you need a Volvo forum to hang out on? Stay with us. You can send recon squads out from here to fetch know-how from the ligonberry eaters. :poke:

Have fun with the s80 :driving: You had quite a nice 5.5 there!

I've driven my uncles s60 many many times and it just isn't the same as a VW. Volvo's look great, interiors are strokeable, but the driving dynamics aren't quite the same. lol

You'll be back!
