Hey Passat world! My name is Mike, and I recently purchased a 02 B5.5 (Passat) Wagon GLX FWD 2.8L V6. I really like it, although it seems to have all of the common issues. I test drove it and noticed it didn't have heat. The dealership had it looked at over night, and the shop said it was ok, after they back flushed it. Turns out it wasn't, it has the infamous no heat issue. BUT, I did some research in PassatWorld, and the dealership agreed to go ahead and replace the heater core. While waiting for the shop to take my car, i was doing a bulb check and noticed there are no running lights, and again, thanks to this forum, discovered it was the headlight switch. Got it from PartsGeek dot Com for 30 bucks! (It was 160 at Autozone!) it is also throwing the P0441 MIL, but alas, I have cleaned out the N-80 Purge Valve with carb cleaner, and as soon as the car gets back from the shop, I will see how that fared. Needless to say, I think I happened upon a plethora of knowledge, and I look forward to the guidence as I dive deep into the turbulant yet invigorating waters of VW ownership. I saw a signature quote that made me chuckle: "Owning a Volkswagon is like having a hot girlfriend, fun to drive around with but every once in a while you have to put some money on the table for her to stick around" ( I may be para-phrasing here).
