You forgot the kitchen sink! A cell phone, solar battery charger and cigarette charger for your cell phone replaces most of that except for the change of underwear - keep those - you'll need need them when you get the bill from the VW service department! ;)

That fix a flat stuff is pretty worthless if you ask me since you have a full size spare, VW/Audi sells a portable air pump that plugs into the spare cigarette lighter in the trunk.

Cheers,

Sullie

ps: How do you carry groceries with all that stuff back there?

This brainstorming reminds me that I have a lot of crap in my trunk.

Emergency items (in passenger cabin):
1 X Maglite 6-cell (both a light source and a weapon, and it's under my driver seat)
1 X Victorinox SwissTool (all-steel pocket multi-tools)

Emergency items (in trunk):
1 X First aid kit (Johnson and Johnson All-In-One from CVS that fits into stock first aid space above OEM CD changer)
1 X Box of latex gloves (used for both medical and vehicle-related work)
1 X Blanket
1 X Jump start cables
2 X Shovel (1 wide, 1 narrow)
2 X Wood chunks (5ft X 0.5ft X 1.5in) (trust me it comes handy for a real low car like mine, or when disaster happens)
2 X 10ft rope
1 X Road traffic cone (Bright Orange 12" high) (use this when I work too)

Tools (in trunk)
1 X Multi-size wrench set
1 X Multi-size torx set
1 X Multi-size hex bit set
1 X Multi screw driver
1 X Brake cleaner
1 X Engine degreaser
1 X Mintex or stock brake pads (depends what's installed and running at the time)

Clothing (in trunk) - comes handy any time (e.g. when I spontaneously want to go to the gym)
1 X T-shirt
1 X Shorts
1 X Underwear
2 X Socks
1 X Jeans
1 X Jumper
1 X Thick/Ski Jacket

Many other random things you can think of. What else... oh yeah, even for FastLane, I got 2 of them (1 normal rate, 1 carpool rate).

God that's a lot of crap. I think I can get better MPG if I take all that out.

boot's, some of those handwarmer packs, electric socks, and a 12pack :weirdo:
A pint of Kentucky's finest bourbon whiskey takes up a lot less space than a 12-pack (and you don't have to pee as often if you're stuck in a snow bank). It can also be used as an antiseptic if you have to do emergency surgery with your Swiss Army knife.

(from the first post)

GLOWSTICKS!

Damnit! I hate it when I get to a rave, and I forgot my glowsticks and pacifier! :p

Actually the only things I carry are a leatherman; a ratchet set to dig out my chip, my stock chip, some rags (to help control bleeding) and some earplugs for when I go to an unexpected show (concert)

Been stuck before, and it's no fun. Especially in a whiteout -- where some cars may not see how close they are to you.

1 first aid kit including gloves, etc. in the right variant panel
In a black cube bag (I hate hearing things shift around):
- 1 air compressor that plugs into 12V outlet
- 1 warning triangle
- 1 phillips screwdriver
- 1 flathead screwdriver
- 1 tow rope, 2500 lbs test (gotta upgrade that!)
1 set 4-gauge, 25-foot jumper cables in Bucket Boss bag
1 torque wrench (soon to be removed)
1 17mm socket (soon to be removed)
1 warm blanket, black, from VW DriverGear site (good for picnics too)
1 ice scraper + brush
1 digital tire gauge (strapped in near jack, left variant panel)
1 jack + factory tire changing kit
1 NATO-issue collapsible shovel
1 2-D-cell mag lite (OK, in the driver door well in case I need it quickly)

The collapsible shovel is great. It's basically an army trenching tool. Not ideal, but in a pinch it can help you dig out.

But two space blankets? Swami's got it right: Get one big one and have a reason to get cozy!

Oh yeah: editted to add:
