Specifically the leather used in the B5.5 model years.

And which parts are leather and which parts are pleather? The Back bench bottom feelsa like it's all pleather, where the fronts feel like the real thing. And what kind of coating is on these leather pieces? Thanks.

I've used VW's Leather Conditioner, then I switched to the stuff from Einszett, and now I use Lexol. Truthfully, I can't say that one was better than the others. On my '03, I'm better sure that the seat faces at all positions and the headrests are leather. I think the front seat backs are not. I'm not sure if anything on the doors are leather. Oh, and the steering wheel and shifter knob are leather (I think).

I tried Lexol and it was just ok, then I tried Zymol and that was better. The last one was Meguiars gold class leather cleaner/conditioner and while it was the hardest to a apply but it worked nicely. Since it's been a while since I did it I just used the gold class wipes which also seemed to do a pretty good job considering it's just a wipe.

But in the spring I'm planning on doing another conditioning treatment so I'm curious what you all were using.

I'm also considering some of the more expensive products, everything from Pinnacle to Connoly and beyond. That's why I asked about the leather, the back bench seat on mine is definitely not leather or it's covered in something that feels cheap. Not like the fronts.

No matter what it is .. leather or Pleather .. your not cleaning / treating leather your treating the vinyl coating on the leather.

I use two-step Zymol. It seems to be the best. It brings out that "new-car" smell. About an hour after I clean them, it smells like it just came off of the showroom floor. And it keeps the leather supple and clean. Which reminds me, it's about time that I clean them.

Today, many leather producers treat leather in a variety of colors and textures with a protective finish to prevent everyday wear and tear and add overall longevity. This process results in finished leather. While finished leather requires less care, it still requires attention. Leather Care is formulated to specifically address the care and maintenance of finished leather. Its gentle formula utilizes special cleaners and natural waxes to clean and condition the surface to prevent cracking and maintain leather luster. Use on interior car fittings, motorcycle cladding, handbags, and boots. Easily removes dirt, grease, and body oil from the finish without leaving a greasy film. High-quality care components protect the leather surface from becoming brittle and restore the leather to its original softness. Does not leave powdery residue around stitching or perforated leather. Not for use on suede, nude leathers, or full analine leather (unfinished leather).

I've only used Lexol since the car was new (2001.5), and its leather looks and feels very nice. It gets rid of the black dye that some clothing leaves behind pretty well too.

I've been using Zaino Z9 & Z10. They call Z10 "Leather in a Bottle" & well, it works for me! I use it on anything leather, vinyl, or plastic. It just makes any car smell great! Oh yeah, it does a great job on leather too!

I've been using Leather Masters. Its a water based cleaner and water based conditioner. Works very well if you prefer a matte finish to your leather.

When it runs out (probably after this year) I plan to try the Einzett. I've had very good experiences with the other cleaners in its lineup.
