Always love your car...happy to see an update.

Are the skirts real or the fiberglass replica ones? I had a set of the door caps to cover the "dimples" when you paint the lower door moldings. Not sure if you were planning on leaving them black like they used to be or painting with the new color, if they are the reps and if you are painting, and if you are interested in the caps I had made (brand new, they came in the mail after I lost the B5.5), just let me know, they have just been taking up space in my parents basement for 4 years. They are all yours for the cost of shipping if you want them. Long winded, just figured i'd offer.

As for colors, Porsche's palate always has some nice stuff, always loved Macadamia Brown, Dark Olive, . In Audi's palate, Suzuka Gray is nice too since it appears flatter than most colors, but still has the gloss, might be too similar to your OEM color though if you are looking for a change. I also love Nocturne Aubergine, was the only color I debating changing mine too...I am sure some other colors I am forgetting. I always wanted to do a really dark purple, one that looks black in most light, but direct sunlight shows off the purp. Could be done with blue, red, green too I am sure. Just saw an old school Buick Riviera with the deep purp color one time and it looked crazy nice.

Thankful I took the time to read the whole thread! Good lawd man. Patience is a virtue, but you've gotta be hitting your reserves by now! Damn nice build quality. Tons of time and consideration into everything. Fantastic job to you and everyone involved.

I gotta know... did you ever find a paint color you like? Porsche Macademia Metallic isn't a bad option, if you like brown... plus that's what color my car is. lol.

Love the car. Super jealous.

Thanks man, the skirts are OEM, I have the caps in my garage stored safely away for the right moment lol. Thanks for the offer though  Porsche definitely does have some good colors, I need to research their colors.

Ya don't say.....anything like this?

That's serious lol. I don't think I'd ever do a raintray delete, but then again I never thought I would go big turbo haha. It's getting shaved for sure. I just need a little break. What I have in the works is different, I'll post up pics when its ready.

Thank you, yea the bank account is suffering, I need to let it breathe a little. I haven't really focused on picking the color yet, I'm hoping to have enough funds with my tax return next year.

Any updates?
Ask and ye shall receive

Ok so getting everything together to get it started up and driving. I also wanted to mount the rear valance. I'll probably mold that to the bumper.

Mixing up that pink stuff in the garage

Fresh oil and filter.

This manifold doesn't leave you a lot of room for a filter. I went for an oval filter to try to get some more flow and ended up having to crush it to get it behind the headlight. Better than blowing compressor wheels. It quieted it down some though. It used to sound like a jet engine when it passed.

New V-Band clamp

The glass needed some attention. Couldn't get this stuff off with just cleaner.

This stuff is pretty damn good.

All this big turbo stuff going on but lets not forget

This came in from the dealer.

It fired right up, it was pretty late so I didn't take any pics driving it around :driving:

A video just messing around on the way to work. Needs a tune and more boost bad haha.

Maybe, there's maybe 4 inches from the turbo to the headlight, I'd have to see the dimensions of that piece.

Tial

You have no tune?
Not yet, haven't wanted to take the car to get tuned only to have problems and not have it done properly. Doesn't matter now though because the turbo's cartridge just took a shit on Saturday, the shop that fixed it messed it up somehow. Of course they will not warranty the repair even though the turbo only lasted like 100 miles after they touched it. So now I need to shell out for one of those.

I had same problem when i didnt have intake built. I found one in AutoZone out of all places that fit and it was tighter fit than on your manifold.

The oval one is super short, its only 4 inches, but because of the location of the vacuum port on the turbo housing for the boost controller I can't angle it in a way to get it to fit behind the headlight without crushing it. Were I able to turn it like 45 degrees counter-clockwise it would fit no problem I think. I bought it to gain more surface area over the regular cone filter. It's fine, it just looks ugly. I can always pull it off for shows, but the car isn't going to one anytime soon.

Been neglecting you guys, lots to catch up on.

Okay so this was how the shift boot setup was looking.

Image

Nope, unacceptable.

Image

Bought a B5 A4 boot on ebay to properly mate my boot to the RS4 knob.

Image

Took advantage of the downtime and got the coolant overflow tank polished.

Image

Image

Turbo came back. It ended up blowing thanks to the last shop that touched it. Sent it to another place in Alabama called Work Turbochargers that took good care of me.

Image

Thanks to the votex skirts, jacking it up is always fun.

Image

New oil return line, had to go to the fitting shop to get it assembled because it was just unpossible to get on by hand. They even damaged the threads on one attempt. At least it wont leak anymore.

Image

Putting stuff together. New filter that actually fits.

Image

Trying out this "volcano" wrap. The black wrap I bought turned white, garbage. This is supposed to hold up better. Plus its got that cool gold color.

Image

This has been a problem since day one. Bought some 034 "track density" transmission mounts. Hopefully that with their poly snub mount will keep it from banging into shock tower.

Image

While the turbo was out I actually coated the garage floor in epoxy and shiny clear coat. Super awesome to be able to spill oil and not have to worry about staining the floor.

Image

Image

Even though I'm totally sick of them on my car, I really like these wheels. Hopefully someone else does too and buys them in the near future.

Got my shift knob stuff back

Real Alcantara, very happy with the quality. Gonna send some more stuff out to him, steering wheel, center console, and e-brake. I like his attention to detail.

Waiting for a new oil restrictor to show up to get it fired up. Also sending out the axles to get inspected and rebooted. Then the hunt for a body shop began.

Old RS4 trans mount.

Image

034 mount. No voids, higher durometer rubber.

Image

Axles out to get refreshed.

Added more preload to the coils, wasn't stiff enough. Even after that, still not stiff enough. I need Broadway Statics.

Image

Also, sold the Status seat over the weekend (it made my sowo drive an exercise in self control) and picked up a set of S4 Recaro front seats from a good friend. Not the best seats I could have bought but they're nice enough. Gonna re-dye them when I get the chance.

Found a place in Maryland called Sinister Autoworks that makes adapter brackets. Ordered them in like October and we're in January now, hopefully I'll get them before 2016...

Image

Axles came back from Raxle

Image

Took it for a spin. Started right up, idled smooth, no noise from the CHRA, no more water leaks but there is a dribble from the turbo oil feed line. I need to figure out something entirely different for it, I'll get to it sometime, its not bad enough for me to worry right now. Luckily its been nice and hot down here, and it hasn't overheated yet, so it looks like the overflow tank is working properly. Slowly gaining confidence in it again. First couple of days I wasn't even driving with the radio on. Drove the piss out of it on Saturday back from downtown on the highway and it felt great. Much faster.

At this point I had been driving it every day for quite a few months. No issues, piss poor gas mileage, but I didn't have the time to tune it since my Fall semester started. And then I FINALLY found a bodyshop that I could trust with the next stage.

Finally time for paint.

After this last dis-assembly I'm pretty sure I've messed with every single bolt and fastener on this car.

The car is in Clay's hands now at De'Caudellas.

Image

Image

Here's the color. Audi Shiraz Red Metallic. Its generally dark, until its under bright direct light. One picture is in bright daylight, the other on an overcast day.

Clay started with the most difficult part first. Molding the rear vortex skirt. I am EXTREMELY picky when it comes to paint and body work. This particular part is going to be difficult because of the way the bumper and votex lip mount, and how different the curves are around the wheel well, but the way hes going to tackle it should be exactly what I'm looking for.

Hopefully I'll get more updates soon :)
