Pulled out my VW passat .18 2003 this morning and I notice that I have a oil decent size spot under the passenger side. I checked my oil from the dip stick looked good. I looked under the car and I cant see where the oil is coming from. There is oil under the control arm and belly side. THe driver side is spotless though. I had my timing belt and valve cover replaced year and half ago. I have 80k on it now.

Thanks :wrench:

make sure it's engine oil and not coming from transmission or power steering(greenish) or differential which is on the passenger side on my V6 tip ...

having the belly installed can be confusing in locating the source of leak... it may bring fluid from the front of the vehicle ... i would recommend to remove it

Take the belly pan off and inspect it. Sometimes a leak can be going on for months before it actually hits the ground (if at all!).

This is what I had happening. It was a valve cover gasket leak from the passenger side rear of the engine, but it can come from any gasket - IF your CC suction valve is clogged. Happens all the time on here. It's located behind the intake plenum below a check valve and it looks like this:

Take it off and if you cant blow through the bottom/little nipple it's clogged. This causes back pressure to force oil out of seals. Often the VC gasket.
