reverse 180! :D

Update!

Ok, looks like less people know how to do this than i thought, so im gonna write a little how-to! (Im not trying to encourage this, but if its simple enough, what the hey!)

How To:

1. Find an open parking area, by open i mean NO parking blocks, unless you're experienced enough
2. Pop the car in reverse and floor it! hit at LEAST 10 mph, i hit about 15-20 (no this is not too fast, if you go too slow you can end up STILL going reverse in a direction you dont want to be going reverse in!)
3. Turn the wheel almost 1/2 a turn.. 3/8's of a turn to be exact..each time you do this, you will progress and feel up to exactly how much to turn the wheel for getting the results you want ( you should be able to figure out which way left and right will make the car go, and if you cant, this trick may not be for you )
4. AS you turn the wheel, the split second your car has turned 90 degrees which is basically halfway through the turn, pop the car in 'D' or 1st gear to pull forward.. AS BEGINNERS you want to pop it neutral instead, just to get the feel of the car spinning around like that.. also, dont floor it when taking off forward until you've done this a few times.

also: when you start getting better, you can turn the wheel ever so slighttllyy the other way before doing the 3/8th turn to make an even cleaner 180.. but BE CAREFUL, if you turn too much, the car will do the 180 the WRONG way... the weight of the front of the car makes this possible, and at speeds of about 15mph, it takes verryyy little to swing the car around. i'd say if the steering wheel was a 12 hour clock, take the wheel to 1 o clock before spinning it the other way. hope this helps!

i dont know if this is detailed enough but any questions? just post em!

Yes B5 for sure. I have a B5.5 too but cannot remember if it ahas happened in it(only had it a month or tow).

Here is why I know it works on my B5 :( I use tip-mode a lot, and sometimes forget I am not in tip-mode and bump it into N. I am then able to slide it into D again (if you do not wait for the revs to come down first, it will make a deathly shudder).

I know I'm showing my age here. Did you ever see "The Rockford Files" (mid 1970's dectective show)? James Garner used to do that all the time with his Firebird :D.
