Hey Guys i have a :b5: and i recently upgraded to the :b55: center console with the cupholders. awesome upgrade as most of you know. to the point... the old console had the button in the middle of it near the ebrake, and i wanted to know what others have done to relocate it. i could cut a hole in it and stick the button where it used to be in the new console, but i thought it might be better to relocate it all together. like maybe in the dash by the blank button (bottom right under passenger heated seat) or maybe in the door where the gas and trunk buttons are in the later model :b5:'s any input would be good. thanks

I had a VW/AUDI independent mechanic cut up my :b55: center console for my gas switch and they did a bad and lousy job. When I pop in the switch in the hole, the button cannot be pushed. When I push it, the button doesn't move down to activate the switch, it seems like it's stuck up and cannot be pushed down to activate the switch.

So what I do now is, I have the switch poped out of the hole, just hanging there.

But I have seem/heard of people cut the hole themselves with success, so it can be done.

I did the B5.5 console conversion and put the button back in the center console. Works perfectly and looks perfectly OE.

You could get a B5.5 driver's door card and just wire it up to the button 'in' the door card pocket. I also like the idea of wiring it to work in the sixth 'blank' spot on the dash, too.

i finally got around to doing the gas button relocation, and it wouldnt fit in the 6th position under the passenger heated seat. i ended up putting it in the center console and cut a hole. i also had a hard time with the button pushing in and getting stuck. i had to use a dremmel and carefully and slowly trim where it was tight until it worked perfect.
