Any recomendations on the best plug for 2003 Passat V6 ATQ engine? The service manual calls for NGK BKR5EKUB. Any input is appreciated.

I just put Bosch Platinum +4s in mine at the 40k. I had put Beru 4-electrode plugs (forget the name) in my previous A4 1.8T. Both seem to work fine. I think as long as you buy a good plug, you get more bonus out of fresh ones than from any particular plug. May make more difference in turbo motors, esp. with the wick turned up a little more.

I normally stick with Bosch & NGK Plugs, but members on this forum have used plugs from Beru and other vendors with excellent results. Don't forget guys that vendors will occasionally update their part numbers.. :)

Most manuals will reference NGK Part Number: BKR6EKUB as OEM, but these plugs have been replaced by Part Number: BKR5EKUP. The NGK plugs require .028 gapping!

Bosch Part Number: F7LTCR are also listed as OEM for our Passats and they have been replaced by FGR7DQE0. These plugs require no gapping! The Platinum +2 and Platinum +4's should also work well.. Plasticar, let us know how your plugs hold up over time!

Good luck...

Spark Plugs

I was a little confused, the Bently manual indicated 6 plug and the websites indicated 5. I have had good luck with NGK on my bikes. This is the first change at 30K and wanted to make sure I get the right plug. Ordered in the Bosch 4. I do not go for gimicks in plug technology but the price is right at 5.99 ea I believe. Just getting the ride ready for spring.
