LADIES AND GENTLEMEN

With egg on my face, I am glad to say I am back.

When I departed, there was a miscommunication and I thought I was being told I was no longer allowed to post. When in fact I was being told I was no longer allowed to solicit sales.

Oops, Color me embarassed.

But after clearing up the miscommunication, I am hoping we can get back into the swing of things. I had great fun helping out here.

BUT......

There are some ground rules. They are the same rules that were instated when my original thread was created.

I have been authorized to help all PassatWorld members with Part Numbers, List Price (This is true MSRP list, not inflated list), and on occasion, ETKA illustrations.

Because I am not currently an advertiser I can not solicit sales or offer discounts.

Second, If you want European parts numbers, I can help with that because ETKA allows us to view the European catalog. However, there are no dealers outside of europe that can order the parts because of legality issues. There are vendors that buy them and get them shipped overseas, but I am not one of them.

Third, It is VERY difficult for me to assist with upgrades because Vw does not tell us what all is required to put a Multi Function Steering Wheel in a car that didn't come with one. I expect there are DIY's here. You can find your parts list there then ask. Then I am able to help.

So, With those out of the way, If you have any questions for a Vw parts guy and don't want travel to a dealership just to ask, Here is your opportunity.

Edit: While I may be able to quote part numbers for European parts, I can not quote prices. Vw does not supply us with euro parts prices because we are technically not supposed to be ordering them.

Also, Lets keep all parts requests in the thread that way everyone can benefit from the knowledge. You never know, we may both be inadvertantly helping someone.

I remember reading Version 1.0 of this thread. Then I learned how to search the ETKA diagrams. I'm not sure what parts haven't already been asked about on PW since the newest B5.5 is now 7 years old with the release of the 2012 line, and the info is easily found using the search function. But, you're right, maybe this will help someone.

Welcome back to the club, looking forward to finding some questions to ask

Thanks guys.

I was hoping the welcome would be warm.

Colorado, You are certainly correct that almost everything has been asked already, but then again there are always B5'ers that are moving up to B6's or now even the NMS. And that means we should be seeing new drivers of the B5's.

And Hey, That's what I am here for.

Hey,
What's the part number for the wiring harness that contains the ground strap that is connected to the ignition coil on a 2001.5 Passat V6 ATQ engine?

I don't have pictures at the moment, but can get some if needed.

Thanks!

Ryannn,

ETKA is not showing a separate harness for the ignition coil with a ground strap. As a matter of fact, the only two separate harnesses I can find are for the oil pressure switches and the Cam Position Sensor.

So it appears you would need to replace the whole Engine Harness.

Considering your car is before 2002, There are only two part numbers depending on if your car is Automatic or Manual.

Automatic - Part number 8D1-971-074-LM and List price is $1399.35
Manual - Part number 8D1-971-074-LH and List Price is $1320.00

Although ETKA may not always show part numbers, so it is possible a separate harness is on a different car.

If you can find a tag with a part number, I'll be glad to run it and see what it applies to.

Welcome back! Any euro part #'s that are identified can be obtained through ECS Tuning.

L

You didn't mention if you have a B5 or B5.5, and you didn't mention of you have a 4, 6, or 8 cylinder. But here's what I could find....

Fortunately, the B5 and B5.5 share the same part

1.8T Cover 058-133-849-C List price is $24.00
V6 Cover 4B0-133-849-A List price is $13.50

There is no cover for the W8

Well, OK, here's my conundrum...I've been told anecdotally that there's a rear sway bar VW offered for the 1BE kit (2000 B5 sedan, FWD/1.8T manual tranny). BUT, can't find it on ETKA myself in my handicapped ways, could you confirm or deny?

#15 ·
I believe the 1BE rear sway you are referring to is from the B5.5 4-Motion W8.

That is the ONLY passat in the B5 generation that has a separate rear sway.

The part number for it is 3B7-511-409. List price on it is $160.00

Hi Robert, can you tell me the part number and price of this plastic clip? This is on a 1999 2.8L AHA - directly behind the driver side headlamp. It holds several electrical wires in place. Mine is still there, but whatever was attaching it to the car has broken or disintegrated. (If the piece that attaches the clip to the car is a separate piece, I need that info too, thanks!) It is circled in red in the picture below, and has one green plug clipped into it.

Hey Robert, you helped me out in the 1.0 thread and I'm back for more =) I think you may have found me the very last set of beige floor mats back in the day and shipped them my way, haha.

Could you help me determine the correct part number for the clockspring, turn signal/cruise stalk, and windshield wiper stalk on a 2001 Passat w/ multifunction steering wheel?

The VIN is WVWEH63B61E006856

Thank you, thank you!

#32 ·
Glad I can be of assistance.

According to my computer with your VIN, here are the correct part numbers.

The Clockspring should be part number 1J0-959-653-C based on the lack of ESP.
The Turn signal stalk should be 8L0-953-513-S-01C based on the presence of Cruise Control and Multi Function Steering Wheel
And the Wiper Stalk should be 4B0-953-503-G-01C Based on your Sedan with On Board Computer.

If any of these details are inaccurate, Please let me know and I will double check.

Thanks.

While you're at it, would you let me know the part numbers for the tan/platinum door panels for a 98, 99, or 2000?

Then again, maybe none are available anywhere?

I don't care if they are cloth or leather so long as they are all 4 the same...

#33 ·
Unfortunately, you guessed correctly. There are no longer all 4 of the same set available anymore. But if you still want, here are the part numbers...

Cloth:

Left Front 3B1-867-011-AH-EWP (With trunk release button mounted in center console)
Left Front 3B1-867-011-CE-EWP (With trunk release button mounted in door panel)
Right Front 3B0-67-012-AL-EWP
Left Rear 3B5-867-211-AB-EWP
Right Rear 3B5-867-212-AB-EWP

Leather:

Left Front 3B1-867-011-AK-EVZ (With center console mounted trunk release button)
Left Front 3B1-867-011-CF-EVZ (With door panel mounted trunk release button)
Right Front 3B0-867-012-AN-EVZ
Left Rear 3B5-867-211-AE-EVZ
Right Rear 3B5-867-212-AE-EVZ

Wow, I didn't realize this thread was revived. Lol

I thought it just fizzled out.

But of course I am glad to help.

I only now (7:45 pm) saw the thread brought back, so I will have to get to all questions tomorrow.

Dubz, typically the vin will not narrow it down to an exact part number because 1 of 3 manufacturers may have been used. It just depends on what was in stock that day.

But i can tell you what amperage it should be and the respective part numbers for the different alternators.

Feel free to pm me your VIN

And Steve would be correct on the Eibach Springs question.

It is possible they were the Driver Gear spring available through the Vw dealership, However there was never a cross reference between the Eibach part numbers and Vw part numbers.

If they are the Driver Gear spring (about 1/2" - 3/4" lower), you will not need to change your struts.

However, if they are an Eibach spring (<3/4" lowering) then you will need to change your struts.

Thanks for the help Steve!
