will these abs control units work?

I have a 99 passat 1.8T with ABS pump# 8E0614111B

I need a new control unit for the pump, and found 3 available. One is a brand new complete pump with controller #8E0614111G, another is identified by bosch #35538, a complete used unit taken from a 2001 passat, the third is from a 99 passat with #8E0614111C.

My question is can any of the control units be used with my existing pump, to simplify the install.

Thanks for your help,

Shaggymat: thanks for the link. I actually found a similar one but which included photos and a procedure for carrying out this repair. I tried it with my failed "B" control unit. Because of the extreme fineness of the wires, and the low melting temp of the nearby hair thin gold wires, after fixing the primary failure, the broken silver wires, I had inadvertently melted some of the very fine gold wires. :banghead: After my handywork, I don't think this unit is readily rebuildable.

So my question is can I use the control unit from a "C" series pump assembly on my installed "B" series ABS pump assembly?

If necessary I probably can install the entire pump assembly with the "C" pump assembly, if the plug connectors are the same, but prefer to avoid having to bleed the brake lines and just swap the control unit.

I'm looking for the 8E0614111C unit you found ... but can't find one. Can you tell me where you found it ?

Thank you ....

My "B" series pump failed and I was able to replace it with a $200 junk yard module. If I recall, you won't be able to use the C series module as the ECU won't be able to communicate with it (its looking for the B pump) - at least that is my understanding. It doesn't matter if you also change the pump as the ECU is only communicating with the control module. You potentially could use VAG-COM to change what the ECU is looking for, I belive, but I don't have VAG-COM so I'm just guessing. I was able to plug in a B series pump from another Passat and the blinking ABS light went off and I have ABS.

Of course, its really easy to swap in the control module so just do it and see what happens! Then you'll know if it works :)
