Vacuum line and check valve delete?

Anyone done that on a b5/5.5 platform? Found a write up for a B6 A4 but it seems to be a bit different. Got most of it done today but I'm not sure what to do with what appears to be the vacuum reservoir for the brake booster, and if there is a second one in the drivers side fender.

Edit: driver's side fender appears to be charcoal canister, so that just gets disconnected.

The hard plastic line that comes out of the drivers side fender I added a vacuum line to and routed it underneath the manifold on the port that hangs down.

And try and describe this vacuum reservoir a bit better. Not entirely sure what you're saying. Is it the weird shaped hose off the back of the manifold that goes into the firewall? And if it's a vacuum source, you'll never want to leave it open as you said above because then you'll have a leak. Maybe take a pic what you need help with.

The funny shaped plastic hose that goes into the firewall is for the brake booster. There are 2 half inch ports on the intake itself. one underneath the TB, and one on the side right behind the TB. Take the plastic hose coming from the firewall, and attach a 1/2" hose between that and either one of the ports on the intake. The other intake port will just be plugged with a vacuum cap. As for the lines coming from the driver fender well, they can just be cut and hidden in the fender lining. If you're feeling really froggy you can remove the fender liner and take out the whole charcoal canister. I just did mine last weekend, so it's still pretty fresh in my mind if you have any other questions.

Edit: Forgot there's a port at the rear of the intake that will get plugged also. This info is all from an AWM also, so different models may vary.

Im cleaning the bay, this is purely a cosmetic thing.

The vacuum reservoir i was referring to is the metal canister next to the power steering reservoir. Mad a hiss when i disconnected the lines. I essentially rid it of everything, There are two (or three) lines running off the crank case breathers from the oil filter housing. Ran one to the intake manifold with a check valve, the other to the valve cover which has a t fitting so i ran the other side to a dump next to the transmission to vent crank case pressure. PCV, SAI, EGR have been removed for a few months. Removed vac line after purge valve, left it open and plugged in. Removed lines from n249 and n112 (?) under the manifold, left those open and plugged in. Left factory vac line for WG, ran the DV straight to the manifold. I think that pretty much covers everything.

All i have left is the brake booster to the manifold, just waiting to go to the auto parts store later to pick up more vac line/heater hose.

Started it today and it idled fine, revved up without issue. Gotta run a vagcom to see if im getting any codes other than what i already had for downpipe and SAI. After all this checks out im gonna go into the fender and remove the charcoal canister and the hardlines that run to it. I also want to remove whatever the hell that thing is next to the power steering reservoir if i can. I'll post a pic

i did this on my B5, the B5.5 has more crap to deal with

-The 2 ports on the intake manifold that are capped, one on the bottom, one on the side
-I left the hard line going to the brake booster because there is a check valve in it IIRC
-The hard line going into the driver side fender was cut & capped - i think its the LDP
-All other PVC, check valves, EVAP, was deleted etc

what is that reservoir for next to the PS tank??

Yeah what the hell is that thing next to the PS? never seen that before...even when I did a b5.5 engine bay delete I didn't see that. Weird.

Looks great though man. Why not get rid of your airbox, get a custom heatshield, and get a cone filter like mine? Taking all the crap out cleans up the left side A TON.

My car used to be automatic, could it be related to the transmission? If thats the case, my ecu was re-flashed to a manual ecu, so that thing isn't sending any signal anyway.

Airbox is definitely one of the next steps. I just ordered my AGN valve cover so thats next, but that airbox is ridiculous so i cant wait to get rid of it. Ideally I'd want to just reflash and get rid of the MAF sensor all together. Still unsure as to how to go about that. What hoses did you use for yours?

Maybe we should make this the shaved bay thread.

Unplug the electrical side and plug the hose going into it. I doubt it would make much of a difference unless you drive in stop and go traffic. Then you might have low vacuum at the brake booster. Try it for a few days and see how it works. Then remove it if you find it is not needed.
