Simple, quick, question. Do window tint shops all also do Taillight tints and stuff? I've looked on several window tinting shop sites and haven't found that they state that they do taillight tinting. Would they also do my tails you think? Thanks. (Yeah I guess I should give 'em a ring, but it's too late.) Lol :D

I would save some $ and just get VHT Nite shades spray and do it yourself. a tint shop will charge around 75 bucks if they will even do it as opposed to 8 bucks for a can. You can also do your marker lights as well if that is something you were thinking of blacking out.

I would love to send them out to Jon, but I can't have my Passat down for 3 days. or even 2. 1 day max is what I can do for downtime. I guess I'll go to some local shops and get quotes for Tails and windows. Thanks for your info guys!

you can go cheap (laminex or nightshades) and wonder how good it will look, or you can go jonboys and know exactly how it's gonna look - amazing.

The problem with night shades it that it washes off over time. Jon uses actual automotive paint. It's not about being a mangina it's about getting it done right. Could I have done my own tails? Absolutely. Would they have come out like Jon's? Not likely. He's got too much experience and the right tools. Plus supporting a forum member and all-around good guy is the right thing to do.

then I challenge you to get the same results as seen on my tails. good luck with that... :salute:

I hope you do, but I'll pretend I'm from Missouri - show me.

Although OP doesn't want to go this route, DYIers should know that I've used VHT Nightshades many times and have always had great results at a very low cost. You can make it as dark as you'd like by adding more coats. Clearcoating and/or wetsanding is a matter of choice.

On my wagon I went with a lighter coat on the upper halves of my tails just to give them a bit of interest.
