Here's the pictures of the freshly painted still warm from powder coating wheels on my B6 Passat.

My opinion: Looks awesome.

Your opinion: Would be greatly appreciated.

BTW: No it's not an official photo shoot I just propped it up in the construction lot nearby.

Thanks. :) :)

I like it. I have been checking back regularly to this forum (I don't have a b6) to see when you were going to post up new pics. Let me be the first to say don't listen to the inevitable haters. As long as you are digging it, who cares what others may say.

I wonder how it might look with just the grill bars( not the surround) and the grill VW emblem blacked out?

Edit: lose the front plate.

I would say you should paint the grill surround Red and black and follow the stripes through it.. black out the grill itself (grill slats) and leave the VW emblem chrome to match the centers on your wheels... another big thing... LOWER IT! At least put the VW Drivergear springs on it to get rid of that wheel gap.

Get so coilovers and put that thing on the ground, and if its a 2.0t get it chipped so that you can back up those strips with aome poower

Yeah I want to drop it a bit and maybe get a badgeless grill but I'm not sure on the latter yet. I am looking for more performance but I need to finish up the cosmetics first. I'm glad to see more people like it now though lol.

interesting. first time i've seen your car, but i'll look in your other posts to see the begining stages. i think if you black out the grill, and lower the car, you will have a serious looking ride. this is definately an approach i didn't see coming with the new b6, but  (thumbs up) for being creative, taking a chance , and being a front runner.

other suggestions, maybe get rid of the livingston plate on the front. change the amber markers on the bottom to clear, or tint them...along with the side markers and rears. then get some engine hardware and you should be rolling.

honestly lose the chrome slam it on the ground put a K04 on it and you will have one nice car. if you lose the chrome it will make the stripes look much better, and dont forget about the hi def body kit that would look so good on your car.

I can't get past the mixing of styles. The Passat is nothing like a muscle car. It is more the luxury/passenger vehicle. I don't understand why you would do this to a Passat. It seems your style would direct to buy a Mustang, Charger or sports car etc. It is unique but not in a good way. Sorry I do not like it. It is your car so if you like it then that is all that matters so I do not mean to burst your bubble.

i appreciate the input very greatly and no there's no bursting of bubbles here. All input is necessary.. Just one bit: i do have a mustang my friend. on the thread earlier, the black one in the pictures :]

Thx

Cosmetic Mods...

Smoked Corners on the Front
Smoked Turn Signals on the Side Mirrors
(Maybe) Black housing on the Side Mirrors
Smoked Tail Lights
All Black Grille with Euro Plate Holder
Black (Dunkle) Chrome the Trim Around the Windows
Black Rub-Strips Along the Bottom of the Car (or remove completely if possible)
Hi-Def, Votex, etc Kit
Slam it on KW Coils
(maybe) Larger Wheels (19" or 20")...want it to stand out? 17" won't do that

Performance Mods...

Chip (GIAC, REVO, APR, Unitronic)
TBE (APR, ATP DP w/ GHL, AutoTech, etc CatBack, etc.)
Intake (Neuspeed, EVOMS, etc)
IC (APR, Forge or ABD...I think these are the only ones made for the Passat)
IC Piping (Eurojet or Neuspeed)
h2o/meth Injection (Snow Performance)
Big Turbo (Lots of Companies developing Kits...check the Vortex Technical Forum)

i would honestly love to do exActly this on my car...unfortunately : lack of funding lol due to the excessive numbers of autos in process right now. Slow and steady for this one. :] but eventually i'm sure i'll pull it all in

the wheels made a huge improvement! the wheel gap and chrome should be your next (cosmetic) items to address. i was (and to some extent am still) a skeptic that the car was going to end up looking good. good luck with the process though.

p.s. - i'm sure it feels nice to not get as flamed as you did last time. keep up the work!

I like it, however in keeping with the “cosmetic first” methodology I feel you need to finish the color scheme by:

losing all chrome, and changing it to black (rub strips, window trim, grill, etc.)
tinting all lights to black
lowering it
maybe painting the mirror hosing black

I look forward to seeing what else you do.

Looks different the rims definitely help the look you're shooting for but why did you choose a glossy finish? A matte finish would've complimented the stripes well. No flame just my opinion And just my 2c Why not do away with the stripes and do something like this minus the black door trim. Please excuse my shitty MS Paint skills

It does look good this way and I can see it turning heads but it's a bit too much for my taste. The glossy finish I chose because, though it isn't very well displayed in the picture, the gloss is ultra gloss which is a special solution our powder coat guy creates himself. It is unbelievably glossy and when the car is looked at from the side, along with the paint's clear coat, the glossy rims fit in very well. The matte look is only for the stripes which some people, such as my friend V_dubin above, still can't seem to feel. It's not a bad thing it's personal taste. I'm trying to work this car into a truly unique and one of a kind VW. I truly appreciate the input, i really do. And the ms paint job you showed actually would be an opinion if i didn't already drop the idea for stripes.
All in all, still a work in progress lol.

Thanks.

Oh WOW thank you very much!!!!!   Quick question, does the matte black around this get rid of the chrome trim that currently exists?

I'm not too sure about the grill assembly here lol.

Black 07 Mustang GT everything done up. smokes a lambo and doesn't pass a smog test for shit.

I was the first to have the matte black on black stripes ;)
