Now that Dave (Crew217) has deleted all of his parts sources from the information base I think it is time to post a new one that will not get removed.

I'll start:

www.1stvwparts.com

www.germanautoparts.com

www.stopshopanddrive.com

www.getcoolparts.com

www.busdepot.com

www.worldimpex.com

www.drewparts.com

www.pap-parts.com

www.awe-tuning.com

Richie at Autobarn (need phone number)

www.pes-tuning.com/

www.ctsturbo.com

www.purems.com

www.ecstuning.com

www.bimmerparts.com

I suggest we also list sites for hard to get tools.

That's at least two non-moderator Info Forum changes I've seen.

Seems that the recent "face-lift" to the text editor box & adding the "autocomplete" feature on the username search box also came with some other bonus features...

Tom -- great post!

WHAT the HELL?!?!? Since when have non-moderators been able to fuck with the Info Forum?!?!? What a bunch of shit. That's not right, I'll look into it. :thumbdown :thumbdown
One of only two stickies in the Info Forum no less! There may be some reasonable explanation.;) Maybe he was concerned that so many people were using his valuable information that somebody may try to assert a liability claim against him for a defective part or a dispute with one of the listed suppliers.

Oh and for tools

http://www.metalnerd.com (custom specialty VW tools - they make some cool stuff)
http://www.harborfreight.com (good for things like the rear piston retraction tool and lightweight aluminum jack)
http://www.obdtool.com (supplier of OBDII cables)
http://www.ross-tech.com (THE place to buy vagcom software and cables - the real deal)

For basic handtools for the shadetree/home mechanic, most often Craftsman tools are probably fine and have a lifetime warranty and since everyone knows them, I didn't bother to list them.

So the Info Forum has been returned to its original state of only Moderators able to mess it up. It had been set to "edit own posts" so that authors could revise links, update text, etc. as-necessary. Guess we won't do that again...

Dave, if you're reading this, a big thumbs down. I thought a lot better of you.:(

Are you going to delete all your posts?:poke:

Eh - if he didn't want to leave the info no biggie. I don't know why he wouldn't but hey everyone has their own motivation so no point in worrying about it now.

I can't imagine that we can't put together a pretty comprehensive list anyway. I'd say all it is really going to take is someone with the time to take what's been posted thus far and complile the list. Then leave the thread open on here so that once its done, a mod can occassionally update it (since the original poster won't be able to once its moved to the Info forum)

Easy peasy lemon squeezy.
