As we all know O2 Sensor replacement is COSTLY.
Have NOT seen it a comprehensive thread on this, so here we go.
As our supermod has pointed out in his post on this thread:
Rear O2 sensor Question - Passat World Forums
O2 replacement is a function not only of:
1) mileage but of the design of the PCV system (improved for B5.5!) AND importantly!
2)how YOU CARE for PCV system....BEFORE collateral damage (seals, Cats etc...)
So would like ONLY responses by B5.5's (2002 and later!) for the two factors listed above and any relevant additions or commentary.
Here's mine and would like your specific responses to be formulated for easier comprehension vs your WTF!:
1)98,000 miles; still ORIGINAL O2 sensors, replaced all PCV hoses at 80K and really clean for replaced original PCV hoses; installed new OEM oil pressure relief cap courtesy of Bullit62:bowdown: Note IF replaced your O2 sensor cite mileage and which ones!
2)My own brew: during or at oil changes: BG MOA; SeaFoam; Red? SR11; AutoRX (for seal maintenance!). Similarly done with gas (for another thread!)
My commentary: Validation of above:
The above has resulted in No relevant CEL's; dramatic major reduction beyond my former initial pass test in hydrocarbon emissions courtesy of last CA emissions test (toughest in all states!).
TIA
