When it sounds too good to be true, it usually is ... Still, its not a lot of money so you may want to give it a try and report it the other CB5ers here. Just be cautious as this is (suggested to be) an electronic "module" (resistor, whatever) and don't let a $4 "mod" ruin a multi-K $ car.

 

It's a $2 resistor if its the same one I'm thinking

It either tricks your MAF into thinking there's more air coming in (read: colder air, so it gives more fuel/timing) or it modifies the IAT sensor sending the ECU a constant air temperature reading, producing the same result

If its the same thing I'm thinking of... then wow its really gone down in price there were suckers buying this thing for $20 because it came in a nifty box

 

But can it be bad for th engine in any way?

 

Technically speaking, no - at least for GM, not sure how it'd affect VW's superior electronics

 

His text is pretty funny. My favorite is: "Rolling road figures are actual estimated figures..." Wonder how they'd get any other kind of estimate?

Seems pretty dubious and sure to blow any warranty you have if it really tricks the MAF as some suggest above.

Tricks the MAFS by screwing with the O2 sensor output. Seriously tricky on a car as electronically controlled as ours. On the Rabbit, maybe some fun to be had there.

 

these usually are for naturally aspirated cars. all it does is advance the timing a little. actually AA, if you like, just turn the distributor a hair. same thing.
