Hi all! Just joined as I had recently purchased a B5 (2003) Passat 1.8T FWD. I’m looking to put a couple mods to give a bit of a power bump and I’m completely new to modding any German car as I’ve only owned Japanese prior to this. I’ve been looking around and trying to find an intake that will fit the vertical engine setup and so far I’ve come across nothing useful. I understand that any intake, fuel, and exhaust mods will require a tune, but I’m more so looking for small engine stuff that will increase power and make sure it’s as reliable as possible with a tune. Chipping, a high flow cat, and a downpipe are the main improvements you can make without upgrading the turbo. The intake will only help with sound, not power.
I'm curious as to how the treatment of your vehicle has taught you about German technology, it's strong-points are very obvious, it's weak points (and there's more than a few) become obvious, usually at the worst time possible...Hopefully you're still driving the ol gal, and she's still alive? They are like zombies after ya learn em', they never have to die, but the lengths we go to with the upkeep can be pretty friggin demanding. Did you put on a ko4? Chip? Tune? Remove that pesky cat?
