at a reasonable price or slightly over. Any Make/Model you guys recommend?

I've racked up 2 speeding tickets (25 and 20 above the limit) since last september. :(

It's funny how all my friends make fun of me because I drive slow...most I'll do is 5 over the speed limit, unless it's a highway then maybe 10, but anyway. I get an ear full of crap, yet I love how I've never been pulled over yet all my friends have about 3 tickets each, I get the last laugh :)

Anywho, valentine 1 gets my vote, or just slow down, that's free ya know.

My cousin is a highway cop as when i went to visit him last i asked about radar and laser detectors. He said for the most part they are useless. He just sits with his radar on standby which doesnt emit anything that is detectable and when he sees a car coming at him at a good speed he hits his switch and instantly gets the speed.

He finds if funny to watch how many ppl slam the brakes on when he does this as there radar detectors went from nothing to beeping there ass off.

They do work well for speed traps when lots of cars are around.

I believe laser jammer legality would be determined state by state. Its regulated by th FDA and I don't know of them taking a position.
Radar jammers are illegal because they interfere with radio waves, and that pisses the FCC off.
As for radar detector, it depends on whether you wanna be a V1 or Escort fanboi. They both work reasonably well and have strengths and weaknesses.
V1 has the arrows, and escort is better with instant-on.

well a laser jammer is a light and outside of emergency vehicle colors there is no provision for rendering the frequency of light it emits illegal. USE of any such device will be. I'd imagine radar jammers interfere with a legally protected emission. You'd do best equipped with a V1, Lidatek laser jammer array, and some common sense. Short of that you're left with luck or restraint.

Flame away, but here goes....

Get a V1 and start paying attention. Many cops use insant on radar or laser. A detector is only going to tell you to pull over. Your eyes will tell you where the cops are.

Radar detectors are a DRIVING AID, not a safety net. If you don't want tickets, don't speed. If you want to reduce the likely hood of a ticket - start looking at the cars around you, ahead of you and behind you. Save your money.

FWIW, I own a V1 and will never buy anything else.

Valentine V1 All The Way

I just bought one about 3 weeks ago and it paid for itself the first time I plugged it in. There was a cop sitting at the bottom of a hill on I-70 just outside Denver picking people off. It was the type of hill where you couldn't help but pick up speed coming down and the V1 picked up his signal before I even got near the top. I had 2 tickets last year within 3 months and couldn't afford another one. It's an expensive piece, but losing my license would have been worse.

Another trick is to keep tabs on how fast the 18 wheelers are driving. In AZ they do close to the speed limit. They cross the state line into NM and hit the gas...Another tip...never ever ever speed on a holiday weekend.

my radar detector has gotten me out of a few tickets now, and not in the way that its detected the radar, but in that, everytime i've been pulled over the cop looks, chuckles a little and says "so did it warn you in time" and i said "no sir, you guys are getting to good, these radar detectors are a waste of money" and they come back to my car saying "well since you were honest and a good sport, i'm going to give you a non-moving violation for having something in your line of view" in other words a slap on the wrist for about 100$ in both situiations i was around 20 over the limit. (i'm not an avid speeder, sometimes you just gotta peee on those long trips)
