How much does a B5 draw from the battery? (amps)

I have a battery drain and Ive narrowed it down mostly to fuse 37 (radio and phone) with a bit more draw from 14 and 15 (windows, door locks, and something else).

How much is the passat supposed to draw while locked with all doors closed? Right now my passat (with the fuses) draws about .07 amps (70 ma) and without them my multimeter shows 0 ( I cant get it to show more sig figs for some reason).

Help? I also have an external amp in the trunk that I have not checked but since removing these fuses seems to go to 0.....

It's normal to have a draw from the lock/alarm system and also the radio. 70ma is so small it would take a month to affect the battery charge level.
You may just have a bad battery. Do a hydrometer check.
A fully charged battery will be 12.73v and should have a specific gravity of 1.277 in each cell. Differences in the SG will determine if you have a bad cell.
If you can't do a SG test, take it to an Autozone like place and do a load test to see if you have a bad cell.

Hi Doug,
When I fully recharge my Duralast battery that is two years old overnight with the latest Black and Decker digital battery charger and take a reading with my Fluke the next morning before driving, it reads 12.9v. After a few days of city like driving I measure it and it's 12.5v.

Is that just OK or borderline.

Do you have any early warning indicators that you deploy concerning the health of one's alternator?

Thanks Doug,
Anson

Please do not hijack my thread, thanks :)

My battery is definitely bad, but there is also definitely a problem (the battery was less tha na year old and I had to replace the last battery for the same reason)

Is it possible my alternator isnt outputting enough juice to power everything? I currently also have HIDs installed, as well as a gps wired up and my amp/sub.

Generally speaking, without getting into details, your alternator either works or it doesn't.
The GPS and all that little stuff uses negligible power, the real power hogs are heated seats, rear window defroster, big amplifier, headlights w/fog lights on, A/C and defrost mode on your heater control.
If you are idling around or stuck in traffic with all of these things on it is possible for the alternator not to be able to keep up with it all.
This should be a pretty easy troubleshoot, start the car, let it idle, put a digital meter across the battery and start turning things on to see where your power usage is coming from.
The problem will show up even faster if you have a bad battery.
