guys, I really don't think he's bullshitting. I hit 135mph on the speedo with my new B5.5 completely stock just after the break in period. It's really not hard to do.

(of course I wasn't holding a digital camera AND a cigarette while doing it

It's OK to go that fast in a Passat. If you slam into a tree at 140, the variety of air bags will nicely cushion the impact, and allow you to exit the vehicle without a scratch. You just dust off all the talcum powder used to store the air bags, take out your cell phone, and call for a tow.

hmm...140mph..and taking a picture myself...stupidity?..or just bored?..hehehe..highest i have hit was 149mph..

A few years back I was in Germany.. driving from Frankfurt to Munich. Along I went in my 1.6 litre Golf at about that speed.... I figured I would want a memory so I steered with my left hand and grabbed my camera with my right and snapped a shot of it. I look at it and laugh now... how crazy is that.

I'd call you nuts, but I can never practice what I preach LOL

I have to admit I too was almost as stupid and did 150 on the digital speedo (both hands on the wheel on Burbank Blvd between Balboa and Sepulveda)in my 1990 Chevy convertible Vet when I first got it after graduation. that was a decade or more ago....wow

going 140mph was on the interstate 5...perfectly flat..sea level...on flat surface road..the highest i hit was 149mph..that was pretty much the max i could go on flat sea level...but...going on a slight downhill (which really doesn't count)...i easily hit 155..but had to slow down...my car started to vibrate little bit...and got little scared...

oh..i used my tiny..sony u-cybershot camera...and umm..i just got it....

I agree, due to the way the roads are here in New York its very hard to push that type of spped. The highest I have ever been able to push the 8 thus far was 135MPH. Of coarse I had to slow down due to upcoming turns.

Ok people, how many times in one year do we need to bring this up. To answer your question, its stupid to go that fast, with ONE hand on the wheel and take a picture. Just MHO and .02. You wont find me driving near you. You would have already been passed.
