First I'd like to say hi to the forum in person. I've been using this resource for awhile. I've worked mostly on hondas and raced them along with some nissan work in the past.

Driving a 2000 passat 1.8t auto (currently 72k miles) as my daily driver. I know how to use a search function and have beat it to death but before I go dump 200 in reprogramming an ABS module I want your expert opinions.

Symptoms:
Intermittent brake fault abs and brake light flashing 3 beeps. Comes and goes, mostly stays on 24/7 now.

Occasionaly switches to a traction control and emissions workshop notification and then might go back to abs and brake flash

This is what I need clarification on. When it goes into brake fault my rear brake lights do not come on with the brake pedal However the center light in the rear window does!

Cruise control functions normally

Treatments:
Reset ECM
Topped off brake fluid
Replaced brake switch

Is it safe to assume the abs module needs to be sent to somewhere like modulemasters? This is what i found on the search, any other reccomendations? I live in Dallas Texas.

Thanks for everyones help!

2nd the Module Masters. I replaced one locally and 2 years later, it is still going strong.

BTW, Welcome. If you send me your email, I can add you to the local mailing list for events.

I'd try looking at the abs sensors at the wheels. Mine has been doing this so I looked in the front wheel wells. I discovered the CV boots on both sides were open and slinging grease which has been deposited in the abs sensors. I will know for sure after I replace the boots. Check the connecters at the wheels.
