i had the same problem and it was just the hazard switch. to my knowledge. the only other thing that might cause this is the stalk on the column. but that looks like a pita to replace. might want to check your wiring and see if all contacts are good and not corroded.

I had the same problem. I did a wide search of the inter-webs and found that it is almost always the contacts inside the turn signal stalk. (PITA to replace the stalk).

I got a can of quick-drying electronic contact cleaner (Advance Auto Parts) with the spray "tube" and sprayed liberally inside where the stalk meets the steering column, moving it back and forth and left to right to make sure I was able to get the fluid inside and spread around the inside surface.

Let it dry for a little while, and it's now been perfect for two weeks and counting.

 

Cool! I did an in-depth look into the wire diagrams and it seemed there is only one wire that could cause it, and its the wire from the hazard switch to the turn signal switch. So thats great that there is another solution without having to take apart the whole column.

Rather than looking at the wire, it is more likely that the actual relay itself is broken as has happended to most people on here, myself included.

Check out this thread, there is a section on slving this issue.

Did you try cleaning inside the stalk with the contact cleaner? It's an easy thing to try first before taking it all apart. - And it worked great for me! (And others who have posted in other forums).

The 'idea' is that over time dust/dirt gets inside and causes the contacts to lose proper connection. The cleaner removes that layer of dust/dirt and restores proper operation.

 

The stalk is pretty easy to replace once you figure out how the airbag is removed. It can take 1 hour to release the airbag pins or it can take 2 minutes.
