I just got APR chipped today (finally!). Right after I took it back from the guy (who test drove it), I smelled something like either a just-lit match or a just-put-out candle. It took quite a while for the smell to go away entirely (at least I think it's gone away now). I'm pretty sure the guy red-lined the car, which I never do. Is this just a normal consequence of driving really hard, or is there anything I should be concerned about?

Well...the chip is probably running your car leaner than it used to be, at least if you have an AEB engine, because the fuel injectors might not have the capacity to inject enough fuel to match the extra air from the turbo AND keep the AF ratio safely in the 12-to-13 range. If you haven't changed your gas filter, you should do that. You might also want to run a bottle of Berryman's Original Carb Cleaner through your gas -- it's got every kind of nasty carcinogenic solvent known to man, so it will get your injectors good and clean. I noticed a nice extra punch near redline in my car after using that treatment -- Berryman's Original is the only injector cleaner that works.

It's normal. They guy was beating on your car and overheating the cat. That produces a sulfer smell.

ummm i love the smell of burning clutch in the morning.

My old car, which was a pos and could care less about, i use to burn the shit out of the clutch (i was still learning) never really smelled like matches, more like a bad metalic fart. OHHH and one time the ex-gf shifted the car with out the clutch and so much black smoke came out the back it was crazy, agian bad smell.
