1.8Tabamoura are your HID's made by Xentec by chance? I bought mine from this seller on ebay:

Mine are the Xentec brand and so far I'm happy although it hasn't been that long. I took both my ballasts apart on arrival and caulked both of them for better weatherproofing. I recommend others do this as well as they weren't sealed to well. We'll see how they hold up through the winter. All in all I agree good bang for the buck.

See below ...

For your 2000 B5, you need more than just the bulb 'n ballast listed here. You also need projector housings to go with it. If you put HID bulbs in your non-projector housings, you will blind everybody on the road.

I'm curious to know how you made the HID bulbs hold in the housing without cutting the OEM metal part that holds the OEM bulb.
It's not a necessity to get projectors to run HIDs, but it's ultimately most definitely highly recommended, and definitely worth it. And if you are at all thinking about upgrading to projectors later, the bulb size will likely change, forcing you to buy different bulbs and incur extra cost (I learned this the hard way).

Explanation: B5 stock headlight housings use H7 bulbs, so you should specify to the seller that you want H7 bulbs for your HID kit. But then later you decide to upgrade to say Hella projectors. These projectors use the smaller H1 bulbs, an incompatible fit for H7 bulbs.

So just think ahead.

And as far as cutting material, that shouldn't be happening as long as you've purchased the correct size bulb for your housing. Though it's been discussed that some kits' bulbs have a thicker/different material base than the OEM bulbs.

Last night I installed the eBay H3 3000k HID kit mentioned above ($74.98) in my W8 fog housings and I gotta say they look very good! This is a shot (a poor one at that!) with the front left HID bulb installed and a regular Hella H3 bulb on the right. Take a look:

The install wasn't too difficult, although I had trouble finding room in the W8 engine bay to place the ballasts. My good camera was busted, so I only took a few pics with my phone- this is one of the better ones.

I found it best to feed cut off the weather proof connector ends the kit came with installed on the wires. Doing this allowed me to run the bulb wires out through the small half-circle hole in the weather cap housing just opposite the back of the projector opening. I then drilled two small holes- about the diameter of the wire insulation- in the 1" diameter cap that covers the half-circle hole and fed the the red and blue wires through to the additional primary wire extension not provided with the kit. All wire connections were connected with weather proof spade connectors and wrapped tight with electrical tape, which actually came out looking very clean. The original housing power plug was sealed with silicone to ensure water-tightness.

All in all the install was very easy, but I would DEFINITELY would have been lost without all the wonderful information stored in the forums. I'm proud that i am a noob and know how to use the search function! Who woulda thought?

By the way, the color is perfect for fogs.
