I was board today so I decided to try a 2002 3.0 A4....

WOW what a car, soooooooo much better than my '03 1.8T Passat. That Audi was the best car I have EVER driven. So much real power... my god... it was a dream car ! so.... next in line is that for me....

... In saying all that, yes the passat is a wonderful car, it's just NOT in the same class as the Audi.
I agree as in 03for 35k you couldn't find an audi in the same class as my w-8;)

The new 3.2L in the A4 is a 90 degree V6. The 3.2 in the R32 is a VR6. The passat will come with a 3.6L VR6. The old B6 Audi has a 3.0L V6. Four different engines, all different animals. If you think the 3.0 was fast, try the 3.2. It's a very nice V6, although STILL not as powerful as the japanese competition.

Try the 2.0T in the Audi as well. VERY smooth and quick. The A4 is my next car for sure, just turns out it'll be a little bit longer before I pick one up. Which is actually nice for me, as now I'll be looking at the 3.2L 6speed :Yikes:

koo.................. thanks for the info.

I second the a4 for my next ride...but I gotta say i'll be looking for a used B6...Audi took a giant step back with the new design...makes me want to F-ing puke...looks sooooo hokey!!!

2 Audi family

Well 2 1/2 weeks ago I traded my '02 1.8T B5.5 Variant in on an '05 3.0 Quattro 6-speed manual A4.

Not even close. The A4 is a dream to drive.

I always loved my Variant until about 2 months ago. 3 brake jobs in 8 months, 19 MPG on the HWY, heat soak in the summer... too much for me.

It sure is nice to have a factory sport suspension, factory 17" wheels, factory Sirius, free maintenance, factory painted lowers, etc.

Oh, and a 6 yr/100K warranty.

I completely agree. I like the B6 design but as soon as i saw the new B7 with the bumper going through the grill i felt the same way. :puke:

However, VW isn't going in any better of a direction with the all chrome grill and bumper. :thumbdown

As for the feel of Audi v. VW- I drove someone's A6 variant allroad with the 2.7 T and i was not pleased. :hmmm:

The 3.2L V6 24V is a 250hp FSI injected engine. The 3.0L is 220hp 30V.

I have to agree with you about the design of the B7 being a step back though I no longer think it is as bad as when it first came out. I'll keep modding my '02 Passat until the B8 A4 comes along. The early word is that Audi will redesign the tranny/diff so the front wheels can be pushed out toward the corners allowing the mass of the engine to be behind the front axle. That alone will allow the engineers to improve the handling dynamics and, of course, the quattro system will have a rear bias like the just-released RS 4. Now, I can only hope the next gen A4 isn't hit with an ugly stick ala the Bangle-mangled BMWs.

Totally disagree. The B6 A4 was a cost cutting version of the B5 A4. Every interior bit on the B5 which was metal, was replaced by metalized PLASTIC on the B6 A4. :puke:Its a cheap, ugly car. With the B7, Audi got back to its roots of quality interiors. The rear end looks much better than the B6 and the front looks awesome in person. (i've seen B7's rolling on the autobahn, simply awesome looking)

The only B6 i'd ever own is one with the ultrasport package, other than that....SKIP.

Anyway, I cant wait to see an RS4 rolling down the road. :)
