Convex mirror, or not?

I have the small convex mirror attached to the regular mirrors (on the outside of the car); it was there when I got the car.
Personally, I think it makes it harder to see out of the mirrors.

What do you all think?
And if I take them off, will I be able to put them back on if I decide that I like them?

Thanks

Dubstop is a no go, took 2 months for mine to be delivered and I could never reach them to get an update. I actually cancelled my order online and they still arrived and I was still charged. Oh well. There are some other places out there to go. Check out www.vagparts.com and look for the euro blind spot mirrors. They are just one place that has them. Here you are: https://sslrelay.com/s74326199.onea...eandoneshop.co.uk/sess/utn;jsessionid=1547f74898a084e/shopdata/index.shopscript
ECSTUNING has some as well. If you can find a place that orders euro parts the part numbers for the blue aspherical mirrors are:
Drivers side: 1J1 857 521C
Passenger side: 1J2 857 522C

Blind Spot Mirror

I got the blue aspherical split zone mirror for my GTI in 2000, from a guy in the Army in Germany (through vwvortex), anyone remember Roger Moore?? Anyway, when I knew I was getting the '03 Passat, I ordered another one, and it went on the first day. I also have the right side for the GTI, and none of the 3 have any problems. I'd sooner give up my turbo than my split zone mirror. The right side isn't as important as the stock mirror is somewhat wide angle.

ECS Tuning has the driver's mirror in stock for $64, well worth it.

Here's my $0.02...

You don't need stick-on mirrors or aspherical mirrors at all. Save your money and adjust your stock mirrors properly and you'll have no blind spots.

Seat yourself properly in the car. Adjust the rear-view so you can see out the rear window. When you adjust the side mirrors, you DO NOT want to see the side or rear of your own car when sitting properly. You want the field of view to be 6-12" away from the rear of your car.

This way, a car approaching from the rear will be viewable in the rear mirror, transition to the side mirror, and then to your peripheral view without ever being in a blind spot. I was taught this method in a driving clinic, and it works perfectly.

Actually, I do both. And, with the aspherical mirrors, I can see cars three lanes over. Basically, they just make the field of view much wider.

This is dead nuts right! You also don't have blinding lights in your side mirrors from cars following you. Keep your cash for something worthwhile, even those blue ones don't keep you from glare unless they're set properly.
