It's probably something of a re-post (and cross post) - however our "robust" search feature did not return any hits for me - other than the recent "Hidden Features" thread. I went over to Vortex and found the info and thought I would post in here as well. Vortex post is here:

This works only on Climatronic cars (GLX and W8).
Let me also throw in a disclaimer here - if you fiddle with the values, make sure you write down the defaults - I'm pretty sure turning off your car does not change it back!

The "service mode" or whatever VW calls it is accessed by pushing the Fan down, Temp Colder and Econ buttons at the same time. To exit, press Econ.
Additionally, the display can be switched from metric (EU) and imperial (USA) by pressing the Auto and Econ buttons at the same time.
