ASR - What speed does it cut off at?

Today, for the first time since I bought my B5.5 in June, I drove it in the rain. As expected with the narrow tires and wet surface, the ASR kicks in under hard acceleration. Since I can't get it to occur at higher speeds, I am assuming it is only a low speed feature. Am I correct? At what speed does it cut out?

Re: ASR - What speed does it cut off at? (Emission)

I recall reading somewhere that it stops working after 25mph. But I have kicked it in at 45+, by going around a corner under full throttle (inside wheel loses traction). But I'll be sure to conduct some experiments for you when I go out again today.

ASR works up to 60MPH. The 25 mph limit is the ELD- Electronic Locking Differential. This system uses the ABS sensors to detect wheel slip, and then applies the brake to the slipping wheel. This transfers the torque to the opposite wheel thru the open differential.

Re: ASR - What speed does it cut off at? (pass-variant)

So, ASR only reduces throttle and ELD only applies the brakes?

Below 25 mph you get throttle and brake traction assist, and over 25 mph you only get throttle reductions?

Correct. They can be active at the same time.

Technically, for non-DBW car's it's an ignition cutout for ASR. For the DBW car's both fuel, and ignition that are cut.

I saw the my dashboard ASR light flash the other day when I hit a puddle while accelerating on I-95. Anyway, that's the first time I recall the light coming on at high speeds (though it's easy to engage ASR at lower speeds in snow and ice a rain). I guess 60 mph sound about right.

Does anyone keep their ASR off? I turn mine off when I get in the car, I feel better response when it is off, is this in my head?

I went to the last page and dug up this jewel, plus I really wanted to dig up an old thread, so I did it! Flame suit on.
