some might be a little better than others but they all have to meet ceritan critera to be called dot-4

around here apprently there is some kinda of beef agenst it

they have dot-4 equvilant but i after going to 5 shops i only saw one that sold honest to god dot-4

for the most part . . . . they all have to meet some baseline specs . . . if you don't track your car, you'll be fine.

If I tracked my car, it sounds like I'd be running DOT 3. I'm just looking for an OEM replacement that won't cause my clutch to squeak as ATE Blue has supposedly done to others. Has anyone used the NAPA Dot 4 or am I going out on a limb here oke:

 

You'd be running DOT3? DOT3 is a lower spec than DOT4. DOT5.1 is the highest spec currently, but many DOT4s have specs above the DOT5.1 requirements.

Just don't use DOT5

 

I have always used the Pentosin Super Dot 4 for no other reason other than I combine it w/my order from www.autobahnfluids.com and it is what my Bentley says I need.

im still not sure why they went with dot5.1 instead of something like dot 6 since 5 and 5.1 are nothing alike

I just did a NAPA DOT4 brake flush on my '84 190E today. The $5.29 1qt was enough to do the job...the difference in braking now is like night and day compared from the previous.
