So all kinds of stuff is rattling on my car now. I'm not sure if it has to do with the KW V2's or not but I am pretty sure the 19's have alot to do with it. But I was wondering if/how I can resolve it. I know this is a stupid question, but hopefully here on PW there us no stupid questions. Any suggestions guys?

Dynamat is pretty expensive, and to install it correctly you have to take a lot of stuff apart anyway - and unless you tighten things up as you go, you'll probably cause MORE little rattles.

Further, it won't solve the problem of squeaks and rattles - it may not even reduce them much. It's really for eliminating resonances from your stereo, and reducing the rumble from road noise - not the high-pitched transients you're interested in.

Tell ya what .. empty everything out of the car then track them down one at a time . you will find that what you thought was 40 rattles is really 4 and they telegraph .

Some will be plastic on plastic .. others will be door rubbers etc etc .

Exactly. Get yourself a lot of felt tape and crazy glue. Here is a tip for free: While you have the glove box out, use crazy glue at all the plastic welds/joints. This also works in door panels etc.

Well, I think I need to soften up the coils anyway. But I think alot of it comes from 2000w and 2 12" subs. But I though about doing dynomat for the systenm anyway, hopefully I find some of the odd stuff that rattles. The one that pisses me off the most is the lil plate that covers the manual sunroof crank. I think if I get a way to solve that one, I'll be fine untill summer. What do u suggest Paul?

My next thing is to shove the 3/8" foam insulation roll down between the windshield and dash to end THAT rattling.

I have so many different rattles, I've been able to single out new ones as problems :) Deusexaethera is right though....depending on the temperature outside, I have more/less rattles.

It's unavoidable. Even if you tightened everything back up while the car is cold, as soon as the parts heat up and expand again in the spring, the mount points will be slowly stretched and loosened and they'll rattle all over again next winter.

What's really needed is rubber grommets on EVERY mount point, to take up the slack. But even they won't last more than a few years before hardening.

You know thats not a bad ideal. But alot of work in it. But I guess it would be worth it. My biggest one that pisses me off is that stupid manual sunroof cover. I'll get something to take care of it, then this weekend when I set it up 4 winter, I'll go thro and track down what I can and fix them. Thanx 4 all the help guys....

PS. Paul, PM me some new pix of the ride when you get some.

I've been running Bilstein HDs, H&R OE Sports and 16" BBS RXs for ~6 1/2 years. It's a conservative combination but has started to take its toll as far as creaks and rattles.

Knew I didn't want a more aggressive set-up for a reason...I'll probably only keep the car 4-5 more years before selling it.

If I had obsessive compulsive disorder (you know who you are, hopefully :hmmm: ) and wanted to stop every rattle, I'd buy about 10 square yards of that magic black felt that VW uses and cover the inner surface of every interior panel with it.

It would be worth it if it were done from the factory. No way I'm going to take my car apart and fabricate rubber mounting points for everything just to get rid of some rattles.

My dad's Miata had a hellish squeal coming from behind the seats, though. Turned out it was caused by two pieces of plastic trim that were vibrating AND rubbing against each other at the same time. It was fixed with a dab of white silicone grease. I bet that would work for any squeaks and squeals (as opposed to rattles caused by loose parts) on this car too.

ya gotta drive it....duh  sitting in the driveway don't count. Mine sqeaks/rattles, but only over very rough and uneven pavment. 95% of my driving is spent on secondary/backroads.
