My final choices. I'm in the market for a sporty entry level sedan. I have a pin # from my friend at audi , and a pin # from my friend at mercedes. So price isn't the issue. Both these cars have there hi and low points. Lets whipe out Mercedes service, My best friend is the service manager so its all taken care of. VW, I've had crappy service and rarely get a loaner. Interior I feel unless I get the 3.6 V6 with climatronic, will def not be as nice as the mercedes dash and controls. Another thing. Merc has a 2.5 v6 201hp 185 lbs trq vs passat 200 hp 2.0t with 207 lbs torque. Advatage VW plus chip brings it closer to 250 hp. I def need opinions. I did love my 02 gLX 5 spd but after 60k on it, the engine had a bad humming noise when I accelerated from a stop and i had atleast 20 check engine lights come on within a 3 year span. I know mercedes is no better but we all know german cars are like this.
Opinions please. C230 sport vs VW 2.0t?

2.0T alot more bang for you buck. The 2.0T will probably be close to $10K less than the V6 Merc.

Drive them both and see which one fits you better.
nope, the C class is pretty affordable. I'd have to drive one, but it sure looks killer!

They look nice, you can lease one for about about a Nickel...I drove a C240 4 Matic last summer and I was left feeling flat, It felt a bit underwhelming, this was not the Sport model just a well equipped C 240 w/ 4 Matic. My boss has had 4 different E Class sedans over the last 10 years, and while the tech in the cars progresses, I feel a significant lack of attachment to the driving experience, the cars just feel numb. (German built LincolnTown Car) even when you tip shift, the gears are so close you don't feel like anything happened.. They are not exciting to drive at all. Just my opinion.

old c240 is only about 168 hp, with 4-matic = SLOW. new V6 in the C230 replaces the 1.8l supercharged, with the 6-M it should be decent performer.

you'll need to add quite a bit to the "base" 2.0T to make it equivalent to the base Mercedes...still should be less maybe a few $k at most. and if you want the 6-M you can't get much of anything optionwise in the Passat. :banghead:

If you got the hook-up.
I would hands down get the VW 3.6 V6 stock 280hp 265lb-ft torque

Thanks fellow passat owners. I would get the V6 passat but no stick. What a shame I definetly have to test drive both. Only advantage to the passat 2.0t is the fact that 50 more hp can be gained with one simple chip.

Thanks all:thumbup:
