What does your wheel/tire weigh?

Looking at alot of posts and wondering if many have done the bathroom scale thing with their wheel and tire combo.
I put a steel rim and 195/65-15 tire on my scale and get 40lbs.

Anyone have their readings?
I don't think any 18" setup weights that little.
I would expect weights to be around 50ish for 17" and 18" setups,
I know my new setup will come in at around 53 pounds.
(waiting for tires)

what usually happens... you can buy forged wheels that weigh in the range of 15 - 20 lbs... but the tires will need stronger sidewalls with the bigger/sportier wheels so you gain the weight back when you put the tire back on.

short of going with slicks... most tires will be close to 20lbs

Your guess of 50 lbs. is about accurate. My current set up weights about 50lbs. they are 18x8.5 speedline 2211 25lbs. a peice and the tires Kumho ecsta ASX 235/40/18 weigh 25lbs a peice (according to the Kumho website). Next time I am going for a wheel no heavier than 22lbs. every pound make a difference when it comes to unsprung weight.

I just wieghed my '03 GLS stock 15's (not sure what they're called) with stock tires (i think they're michelins) - 39 lbs. I'm probably going with ASA AR1 18" rims at 22 lbs each. Add in 21-22 lbs per tire and you get 43 to 44 lbs. There are quite a few "light weight" 18" rims out there. A 4 to 5 lb difference per wheel is not bad if you ask me. Then again, I suppose there is probably more wieght further out on the wheel so that also hurts you as far as performance but what are you gonna do, run around the whole time on the stock rims  .

God forbid!

hate that comfy, easy going, smooth, pothole-resistant, inexpensive stock stuff.
Must spend on stiff, rough, sidewalk-magnetic, pothole-targeting, brakedust-pitting expensive stuff.
I know. I think we've all caught some terrible illness (I know I have). Perhaps one day they will find a cure. For now, there is the aftermarket - always there waiting to give us our next fix...for the right price of course.

My previous Passat track setup w/ 17x8.5 SSR competitions (15 lbs) on Kumho Victoracers weighed in at 36lbs. My street setup w/ 18x8 OZ f1 cups on Bridgestone S-02's were a staggering 48lbs! The diff between running the two setups was night and day difference.

Right now, my Miata has 15x7 street Team Dynamics ProRace-1's (13lbs) on Kumho MX's are 33 lbs. My Civic has 15x6.5 Rota Slips (12lbs) on heavy-ass Falken Azenis are 35 lbs. I also have a set of track wheels and tires for my civic and miata (same bolt pattern), using 15x7 Volk TE37's (9 lbs) on Victoracers weighing 29 lbs.
