Shade + 20% Tint = No Visibility

1) "Luxurious"

2) If you always have the shade up, why get tinted?

3) Tint looks darker to someone looking in than it will when you're looking out.

4) Tint is measured by VLT (visible light transmission), therefore, 20% allows 20% of the visible light through. If that's too dark, you'd actually want more VLT, not more tint.

5) It's really up to you to decide if that'll be too much. Besides, most people looking in won't be able to see the shade if the rear window is tinted. hich leads back to the questions about why have the shade up if you're tinted (or why tint if you leave the shade up).

It all comes down to personal preference.

I have 35% in the back and I leave the shade up because it looks like 20% but I can see out like its 35%. It gives you the option to look darker than legal but be legal, if that makes any sense .

I always keep my rear shade up.
My 2003 GLX had FL legal tint, but the rear shade really does make a difference when parked in the sun (SWFL - Ft. Myers).
The W8 isn't tinted yet, less need in MN than FL, but I also want to do mirror tint as I had on my MkIV Wolfsburg.
Still contemplating those nifty rear side shades...

I've got 15% tint, and I can still see out the back with the shade up, except at night, if you do a lot of night driving, then don't get 20%.

In the day I have no problems, but at night it's pretty hard to see out with the shade up.

thanks for the feedback.

I think I am going 20 on the rear windows and 35% in the rear just for the sake of the shade. It sounds stupid though. Doesn't it???

By the way shade does helps the car to look more "luxurious" if you seat in the back bacause not alot cars have this built-in shade. I have it in my passat so why not USE it.
