Last two nights driving into work (25 mile highway drive)

I have averaged 37 and 36 MPG by setting my cruise at 65 mph.. I also did not have the a/c on or windows down on either of these trips.

'00 V6 GLS 5-speed

oh and our V6's rev higher than 2k at 70mph in 5th, I'm not sure right off, but I know it's closer to 3000 rpm maybe 2700-2800? Someone else might be able to confirm.

My V6 is right around 2700 at 70 mph. And when i go 80 the tach is at 3000 exactly. When i hit the governed speed of 120 it's at 4200. When i get my chip soon i'll have to see what the true top speed is.

I get pretty bad gas mileage where i live. A lot of city driving. Usually it's around 20 in the city and 25 on the highway. The other thing is i drive with a bit of a heavy foot.

This post was TOTALLY worthy of a brand new thread to compliment the other 3 "V6 gas mileage" threads on the front page. ;)

I regularly get 34mpg+ on my 10-mile morning commute (65mph, -200ft elevation change :))

I have a great oportunity to test this... I'm leaving for a 1400 mile drive in about 2 hours. I drive a V6 which is stock except for Bi-Xenons which we know add 2.5 MPG. :D

The first day is driving through the desert, and the second day is through the mountains. I'll report back in three days with the mileage!

Gotta love the drive from SoCal to Vancouver Canada

No, because at 70 mph it right at about 2000 rpm(in 5th gear) which is the lowest rpm speed the engine makes its torque at.
at 75mph you are at 2000 rpm in fifth .... impossible! more like 3000+. If so than I have a problem with my car!

considering a civic will get closer to 50 miles per gallon on the hwy :thumbdown

My 1.8t tip gets 28 mpg average driving arounf 70-75mph.

I checked mine tonight..255 miles, 11.44 gallons = 22 mpg. That sucks. That's close to truck/Tahoe gas mileage. And that was babying it with the cruise on, about 70% highway miles at 60 mph. I keptthinking while getting passed by everything on th road how much gas i was saving. Yeah..right.

So I checked about trading it right after I filled it up. They want to give me 20K even on trade for a 2005 3900 mile 'new' (never titled) Civic EX (demo), and want $17,515 for the Civic. I might have jumped on it, but I only bought this lovely piece of German engineering a week ago. Thats a $1600 loss in 9 days. I guess $1600 would buy alot of gas.

I bought the wrong car. I don't need or want a race car; I don't need or want "farfhegnugen" or however it is spelled. I just want something that will cost less than $200/month in gas to drive back and forth to work. I need an automobile that is an appliance. Right now I'm a little ticked at myself for not investigating better the car I was buying, and also the dealer for lying to me about the gas mileage it would get (he said it should get 32). Its painfully obvious this car will never see 32 mpg, at least not under it's own power.

Anybody want to buy an '04 Blue-Gray Passat GLX with everything, 15.8K miles, for $21,600?? It rides and drives nice, just gets truck like mileage.woohoo!
