Errr... 2005 is not a facelift, it's a completely new (old?) platform.
2005 = A5

Also, the coming facelifted Passat (2005 I believe) will not be built on the B6 platform, but a PQ46. See here: http://www.clubb5.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=49150

 

So the new rolling changes for MY04; new exterior colors, new interior colors, turn-signal mirrors, etc. aren't considered a facelift? Maybe we should call it a "lift and tuck with a color treatment".

2004 changes = Running changes to the B5.

When the tail lights and front fascia/headlights, etc are so different that they don't easily fit previous years...then it's a "facelift". :wink:

futhermore, they will no longer be chassis dedicated... i.e. B4, B5, etc.,
as they share "modular" components now.

think modular (y'know... ikea, closet shelving, or anything really cheezy and without distinction).
