Hey Everyone,

I just wanted to introduce myself, my name is Bernie... and my wife (Kristin) and we are the brand new owners of a 2001.5 VW Passat Triptronic Wagon GLS 1.8T. We have been searching for quite sometime and as of January 19th, 2004. We have it. :D

My wife and I have been very involved in the VW scene. And with our new wagon, we can contribute to the ever growing numbers of the B5 and B5.5 family. ;)

We were thinking of doing a few minor modifications for the time being, until we save up for some wheels and suspension.

For our first post, we are asking "What are one of your 1st Mods, when you got your car?"

So far, 5 days have gone by and we have manage to add a Sunglass Holder, VW "Future Driver on Board" Sun Shade, Rear Sun Shade, Kenwood eXceleron CD Player, Neuspeed License Plate Frame, dubNation stickers... also we deBadge the Passat emblem and deWiper the hatch. If everything works out today, I will be install a K&N Panel Filter, GreedSpeed Snub Mount, Beru Spark Plugs and a TT Diverter Valve.

We went by the VW dealership and also ordered, W8 Overhead Dome Light and Chrome Roof Rails.

I was wondering if there are anymore "budget mods" that we can do?

One thing I can't seem to find is where to get the adapter to add an aftermarket shift knob to the factory triptronic shifter.

Any comments, recommendations and pictures would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Bernie & Kristin. :D

Here is the a picture of the wagon!!!

My first mod was to move my VW valve stem caps from the Jetta I traded in to my new Passat. Then I replaced the antenna with a VW Sharan antenna. That was followed by a Euroswitch, NB sunglass holder and TT tip shifter.

Well, you will certainly fit in nicely with this group! Welcome!

Uhhh, since we have a toddler, which means I'm "baby poor." So no major mods for me. Euroswitch was first. Second, I added an autobahn mirror (or use a "baby mirror" with a suction cup) to the right rear-most window (at the top corner, near the hatch). Helps me to back out of parking spaces when an SUV is parked to my left - great trick for variants. Surprisingly effective. A few friends who saw mine did the same thing. Sorry no pics of it.

Welcome,

You have most of the economical mods taken care of, but here are a few more:
S2000 Antenna - $16
Alientech - $60
Euroswitch - $34
Blue Aspherical Mirrors - $55
VW Monster Mats - $80
Touareg Lighter - $45

Modding is definitely contagious, so consider yourself warned

Welcome to the Club. I'm a relative noob myself. Here's my first two mods BCB5 (before ClubB5):

1) Monster mats (bought my car in the middle of winter)
2) Gorilla mat/grips

And then I found this board PCB5 (post ClubB5)...

stubby antenna
Wett chip
TT DV
K&N Filter
Oil extractor
NB sunglass holder
hardwired V1 radar
blue aspherical (sp?) mirrors
Philips Visionplus
and a few more things to be installed in the spring.

Before I hit 500 miles, I had installed vw sport springs, 17 inch enkeis, tinted the windows, new headunit and subs, and kamei grille.

Then I moved on to 5 lcd screens, PS2 install, kamei eyelids, ITG air filter, guages, and painted engine cover.

Now Im working on getting it chipped, new rotors, and sway bars.
