I got for x-mas and just installed it yesterday and just wanted to say I LOVE IT!!!! I would recommend it to everyone especially with a stick shift like myself. It softly illuminates the shifter and console very nicely at night and looks very high class!!!!

Hmmm... I thought so. So the panel you got has two downward-facing red LEDs near the sunroof knob, correct?

On my car ('04 W8 ), the red LEDs on my car are in the bottom of the rear-view mirror. Maybe I could put some more redness in the roof panel? Or maybe the Telematics eliminated LEDs in the overhead panel (as well as the mini-visor).

I got mine off ECS tuning. They also include the wiring harness already put together and a wire tap to make it pretty much plug and play.

Yeeaahh. Congrats! This is definitely my favorite mod. I let my wife drive just so I can admire it.

Looks good with the Net Optic --> Brushed Aluminum trim mod.

I always wanted this - how plug and play is it?
According to the ECS website, it's *very* plug and play. Even if you don't pay the extra money for the pre-wired kit they sell (which is a great idea, btw), it's an incredibly easy mod to do soup-to-nuts even for inexperienced modders.

Was one of the first mods I had ever done, only alientech was first, and it couldn't have been easier, I didn't have a prewired kit. I must say it is also one of my favorite mods, just don't try to explain it to anyone, they will just look at you like you are retarded. Maybe I am, but I'm ok with it.

Where do u get something like this?
Get it at https://www.evolutionsports.com/products.cfm?catID=125

They give you everything you need plus a wire tap and the wire is already connected to run down to the light switch. They even give you the wire ties :) It is also cheaper then ECS :D
I second that recommendation from evolutionsports.com !
That's where I got my panel.

Great service and delivery and all is included.

Johnny

Yea i got mine from ECS which also includes everything but apparently i guess its more expensive so i guess go with evolutionsports. Also my ECS kit was missing the wire tap which was supposed to be included but i didn't bother calling about it because its so small i just got my own. Also i got a new south powergasket from ECS tuning whcih was ordered on the phone and it was stated 3 times that it was to be for an AUG engine and they still sent one for an AEB engine so i can't say much for ECS tunings service.

I got the ECS kit for Xmas too. I will install it sometime in spring when the temp finally goes above freezing around here (ND). For those of you wondering how hard it is to install or wanting pictures, go to the ECS web site and look at their on-line installation instructions. The instructions and photo's are very helpful.

There is a thread in the information forum with pictures & part#s, on the install of this switch. I installed mine in less than 20 minutes...it's not hard at all. With the right part#s you don't even have to buy the wiring harness from ECS, I built my harness in less than two minutes.

dw8, my car ('03 W8) has 4 red LEDs -- two on the mirror and two on the sunroof panel. I'm surprised the '04 doesn't have it that way, too.

Hmmm... I suspect it should; I can't imagine they got rid of those two LEDs. But there is definitely no light coming from the two ports on the overhead console. The light isn't excessive though, right? Might have to go get two LEDs.

What does the leds on the mirror illuminate?
Same as the two in the overhead console: center area + shifter. Just provides even more light.

I suppose someone could also swap in the W8 mirror to get the auto-dimming and those two extra LEDs.

I just did some checking ...

The LEDs on the mirror go on with the ignition and are of fixed brightness.

The LEDs in the overhead panel go on with the headlight switch, and their brightness varies with the brightness of the instrument panel lights.

Try turning up your panel lights to full, headlight switch on but ignition off, and see if they work.

I have a '04 GLX and the red LEDs are at the bottom of my rearview mirror too. I love it at night. It makes the cabin look even MORE high-class.

GLX already has auto-dimming, but did you try turning the light panel leds all the way down? So the same area is lit? I figure this would get a little bright.
Roughly the same area. But not too bright at all. In fact, it's just almost enough to read a map by when right under one of the mirror LEDs. Nonetheless, totally unobtrusive.

I'm a little confused. When I go to the Evolution Sports website that is linked above, there are so many different panels. Which one do I choose? Whats the difference between "late" and "early"? And what is the difference between W8 Potentiometer Panel and the others? I have a 2000 GLX with gray interior. Which panel is the correct one for me? Thanks for the help!
