pull the front ABS sensors and clean the faces of each. I bet the front ones have some rust or residue that has collected on them.

 

Or your brake light switch is going out .. have the codes pulled and post them.

 

Check that the air in both front tires is the same and both wheels are balanced. Used to happen to my wife's wagon all the time.

 

You could also disable it in the meantime with the ASR or ESP button, whichever you have.

 

anyone else confused about the "1.8 TDI"?

I think you have either a 1.8t, or a 1.9 TDI, but not a 1.8 TDI.

 

Push the ASR button on your dash in the mean time. THe traction control light will stay on butoon it will drive like normal. My car did this to me after I got different size tires on my wheels.

Yeah same here. In 90-100 km/h sometimes the ESP goes on and limits the power for a sec. I'd really need to know what the problem is. Anyone?
I know it's a common problem but I don't find a common solution for that.

Edit: BTW, the problem remains even when the ESP is OFF.

 

I've been having this issue since purchasing the car with 110k back in '10; now has 151k. I haven't been able to remove the ABS sensors to check for rust; has anyone else been able to resolve the problem this way?
