Well, I'm not paying the dealer another $400., so....

Plugs--From reading the boards it seems Denso 5061 are a good chioce, especially at only 2 bucks a pop. Do they need gapped? And do I need the gel stuff on them?

Filters--Is a K&N worth it? And, where can I get the interior pollen filter? Should I go with a charcoal one?

Brakes--My second pair of OEM pads are at 20% in the front. Those will be replaced in a few months, but whats everyones recommendation on aftermrket? I dont want or need anything fancy (ie no drilled rotors) but would like a slightly more aggressive pad maybe. Also, how hard is it to change the brake fluid??

The car is a 99 V6. THANKS FOR ANY HELP!!
Yes you can do the tune up yourself. If you are worried you don't know what to look for you can get the oil change done at the dealership and just ask them to please check the car over for wear items and recommendations. That should be cheaper than $400.

Plugs - gel stuff are you talking about "anti-seize" compound? That would be a good idea. Plugs are bit tricky, you CAN accidentally "cross-thread" them, be careful.

Filter - K&N air filter worth it? Well, if you don't gain any horsepower from it (but you're supposed to) if it saves you 5 air filter changes by cleaning it and CAREFULLY re-oiling it, then it's worth it.

Brake Pads - seems like APR sells decent brake pads that I notice a lot of B5ers using. Don't know if they buy them from APR but I notice they use the BRAND APR sells. As far as brake fluid, that can be tricky, you might want to have the dealer do that with the oil change. Should be around $50, I think, plus the oil change.

Good luck,

Sullie
