My 2001 passat was blowing white smoke badley out of the tail pipe and I thought it was the turbo, so I wanted to make sure so I took it to VW dealer and the said it was the turbo (they wanted a couple grand to replace it), so I found one online and it didn't help. After reading online what may be the issue I have replaced the oil cooler, Mass flow sensor, PCV valve and the puge valve. All of those things helped but I still have some smoke. It doesn't seem to smoke until the car heats up after driving for a while. It is white smoke and my original problem the car would smoke right away and not stop. Anyone have any ideas what I can check next. Car has good compression.

If you had a bad turbo replaced, it can take several hours to burn off the oil from the exhaust system. Have you had the car scanned for codes? Is the coolant level dropping?

I have a 2000 that is doing the same thing, I also replaced turbo two weeks ago and it smokes just as bad, I have flogged it on the hignway some, but no results, what I might do is pull the cylinder head off and have it rebuilt and reinstall it , put new gaskets and sensors on the way out........dont know what else to do. I burned thru 5 qts of oil in two weeks, just added three more today.
