Separating heater hose from coolant fitting - help!

I can't get the heater hose (8D0 819 371x) off of the coolant fitting (058 121 132). I have slid the little clip out, and at one point removed it completely, but no amount of pulling is helping here, or at least no amount of my girlie pulling on it.

How the heck do I get this apart?!? Sharky? bel?

The hoses often bind themselves to the fittings after a while so you need to separate the rubber from the metal. Outside of brute force, which may cause some damage, I try to use a thin screwdriver blade or something similiar and work my way around the fitting until it breaks loose. You might end up having to replace the hose if it's too badly stuck, but usually, once you can free up a small part of the circumferance, the rest will come easier. Good luck.

Thanks, but this bugger has a plastic fitting on the end! Plague and misery. I hoped to get the blasted fitting out and off to the dealer for a replacement and back in today, but grrr! can't get it apart. Also, much to my dismay, the fitting looks kifferent than the ones I have seen in other Passats and in the parts CD or Bentley. That is the main reasone I want to have it with me when I go in.

Electron man has it just about right.

You may not be able to be nice to it like you want to. Twisting HARD while pushing it more "on" seems to work best.

I usually have to get a little ugly on them, if you know what I mean.....

I can wiggle it, but it seems to be caught, as if the two hard plastic parts are still hooked together. I have a fitting that has the heater hose on the bottom, which is not the part the parts guy showed me.

I will get nastier with it tomorrow morning.

Oh, and boy, do I need a new valve cover gasket. It looks like I have needed one for about 20K!
