PCV Possible Problem?

I noticed today while changing my diverter valve that this hose collapses in on itself with the car running till it becomes flat. Did the previous owner use the wrong type of hose because it's very soft. Does it need a very rigid hose or is there something wrong with the PCV system? Thanks guys

Replace the hose with one that is reinforced, such as a heater hose.

Is 1/2" the right size to fit over the pcv valve towards the back of the motor?

I think that size is correct.

I think it is 12mm hose. 1/2 would be slightly larger but would work.
