Yep, broke a clip on one of those emissions hoses so its throwing a low pressure code, but no actual effect on the performance of the car.

Nope. 205k miles and it's never been on since I've had it. Well once when I seafoamed it but it went away after a few starts.

No CEL because I fix my Passat promptly whenever there is one.

 

In 170K miles, I've had two. One at 15K for the dreaded loose gascap and one last summer for, IIRC, a failed coolant temp sensor. Otherwise, no.

Not now as of yesterday .Just changed my coolant temp sensor . was on for two months before had it Vag com.it was becoming a familiar sight ( not good for my blood pressure though..)

 

CEL not on...>

When it was on I followed advice found on this forum, found my dried & cracked braided vacuum line, replaced it with blue silicone tubing and it's been off and stayed off for the past 20K. No place to jack up the car ( '02 1.8 Tip Variant ) so I haven't done a lot of DIY but I have fixed a non-functional rear window ( broken wire behind flexible boot ) and replaced low-beams with silverstars. I'm going to do both air filters soon as I now know how to deal with the airbox. Big work ( TB, brakes ) is done by Edge Motors. Oil change, tire rotation at the stealership. This is a dangerous thread. To those who answered "no"- our cars are watching, you know. I sense a rash of incipient CEL's sweeping through. On the other hand, there wasn't an option for me- I needed yes, no, yes, no, yes, no.

 

Man, I haven't had a CEL in almost a year (knocks on wood)! I haven't even been able to drive it in 2 weeks either because of the dang snow.

 

for the passat's CEL, they should switch out the orange engine logo and just put a bunch of glowing dollar signs
