Now I just need to figure out the best place to wire the power cord into? Any suggestions?! (I am not familiar with car electronics)

The install was a snap, and as you can see I moved the radio down one slot and put the monitor above it for easier access.

Re: Pics of 7" In-Dash Screen Installed (jwilker)

John,
Thanks for the compliment.

When you say you wired it into the lighter, do you mean you used a store bought adapter and plugged it into the cigarette lighter, or (2) you removed the center console and wired it to the red power wire going into the back of the cigarette lighter assembly?

If you did number (2), did you use a fuse in between?

Thanks,

For some reason I would be happier just wiring it over to the fuse panel with it's own fuse. It should be pretty easy to take the bottom of the dash panel off and run the wire over.

Re: Pics of 7" In-Dash Screen Installed (Paradigm)

Well finally got it powered up, I just tapped into the power wire of the cigarette lighter and was good to go. (However I did put a 10amp fuse in between)

Those who are curious about the quality of these screens here are a couple of pics for you:

Not too bad for a $200 In-Dash screen IMHO.

Re: Pics of 7" In-Dash Screen Installed (Paradigm)

I haven't received my DVD/TV Tuner from Canada yet, so I brought out the home DVD player to test out the wiring and to take the pics.

Only problem I have had with everything is the lights on my Radio do not come on now, but the radio works and operates fine. I checked the fuse on the radio, it was fine, and nothing. Please let me know if anyone has any ideas what may be going on. Also just a sidenote the blinking red security light on the radio still flashes, but no lights on the radio. Is there some kind of dimmer control on the radio?

Thanks Again!

I hear ya. It's made by someone for you guys...that's the deal with so many electronics...that's why Flextronics and Solectron are so huge. SonyEricsson is just an R&D shop for Flextronics now, who is also busy making phone for Nokia, fixing XBoxes, and making PS2s...it's pretty neat to find out who makes what for whom.

Re: Pics of 7" In-Dash Screen Installed (Sinjin)

Question about that 7 inch monitor. Does it flip up Motorized? Or you have to pull it up? just curious on how the 7 inch flips up. looks good. Did you receive the dvd+tuner? how does everything work? Would you recommend this system to someone else. Anything you would do different as far as setup or screen change? Just would like some general info. thanks Adam

FOR SALE!!!

Adam,
It does not flip up motorized, you pull out on it and then flip into viewing position. I will take pictures tomorrow of the sequence of flippage

. One of the things that attracted me to this model was the price. I have just ordered the DVD PLAYER , and it should arrive tommorrow, I will take pics where I mount it and post those as well. So far I would highly recommend the monitor, I especially like the fact that it swivels vertically and horizonaly. I was looking for something relatively inexpensive, 6" or bigger, high quality picture (1480 (H) x 234 (V)), and this model definetly fits the bill.
I hope I was able to answer a few of your questions,
Rod

Here is a pic of the DVD installed on the back of the rear seat.

The monitor again:

**update
Here is a pic of the adapter, it plugs into the CD Changer plug in the trunk and goes directly into the audio input of the DVD player.

Image

So far I am very happy with mp3playerstore.com, the monitor and the DVD. Thumbs up all around.

Re: Pics of 7" In-Dash Screen Installed (Espaz11)

How is it during the day? Is it hard to see? How much total was the screen and all the hardware. Thanks looks good

Re: Pics of 7" In-Dash Screen Installed (BOMBGLX)

It's just like if you would take a TV and put it in your backyard during the day. If the sun hits it just right, it is semi-hard to see the picture. But I just pull up the rear-window shade, roll up the tinted windows and close the moonroof, and I can see the picuture quite well. However at night is when the monitor really shines!

Here are my totals:
DVD: $149.00
Monitor: $229.00
Adapter for CD Changer from RCAinput.com: $70.00
So out the door with shipping total came out to about $475.00

Re: Pics of 7" In-Dash Screen Installed (BoeserBlick)

Well to make it easy this company makes these adapters that go into the CD Changer in the trunk. One end goes into the existing plug, on the other end are audio plugs that plug right into your new DVD player. Once installed you hit the CD button on the radio, and the audio from the DVD can now be heard from all speakers.
Hope this makes sense. Let me know if you have any other questions.
