MkIV VR6 Smooth Leathers in excellent condition!

They are beauts, and will clean up very, very nicely. One D-ring to reattach in driver seat back, top left from front, else, they are magnifico!

(note: driver's side back is just as pristine as passenger, just forgot to shoot it tonight.)

Photographing black subjects with ambient light is a little challenging. I think they came out OK. ;)

Wait so are MKIV jetta/golf seats a direct bolt in for Passats? I was under the impression that it would take some mods to the rails. That certainly looks the same in a cursory glance though. What about MKVs? I've been toying with the idea of swapping my grey cloth front seats for black leather ones and this would let me widen my search a good deal.

x2. When you figure out how to mount and make the controls work, please share or PM me. I asked about this same thing a little bit ago, and was told that it was impossible to do.

I looked at rollers and they indeed are bolted to frame (12-point head). With a longer bolt and some aluminum spacers, they should work. If they don't, no biggie. MkIV Golf and Jetta guys will snap these up real quick. But I am pretty sure they can be adapted with as little as two longer bolts and two modest spacers. :wrench:

Scored a pair of brushed alum rear deck lid gas charged lift supports (on sBay presently),sun visors out of an Audi A6 with the garage door opener (going in my son's 03 Passat) and some misc plastic parts,, incl a shopping bag hook for the trunk. Also got the floor mat retainers (round) but could not score a full set of floor mats. I picked the wrong ones last trip, have oval anchor holes instead of round. And a full set of velcro mat holders out of a BMW. They have a "T" shaped holder on the bottom, very small.

I went to the local junk yard while being back in RI for Thanksgiving break. This place isn't a "pull your own" type yard, but it's owned by a family friend, so I got to poke around for a bit while it was closed. :D

Managed to get all the wiring I needed for my rear lighter, OEM car jack, new glove box door and a OEM 6 CD changer that was in the trunk of a 03 GLX.
Total price for all my grabbings? Free :D The store part was closed and my family friend said it was my "Thanksgiving gift" haha.

OP, listening to your tales from the salvage yard remind me of the excitement my dad gets when he finds those obscure parts for his random vehicle project for less than a few bucks.

I need to find a good yard around me to support my leather interior conversion.

I'm guessing there aren't a lot of wood grain tip shifter knobs laying around these days. :/
Fresh kills at the yard today. Picked an excellent condition wood grain tip shifter knob and chrome gate today.

PM sent. ;)

Fresh donors at the yard today

Firstly, apologies because I left home without my phone for pics. I will go back and get photos tomorrow. Believe me, it is very much worth my time and effort, there were several good new donors at my yard today.

There was a new 2005 B5.5 TDI Tiptronic there, candy white with grey leather interior, driver's seat cushion hosed. Apologies again because I kinda roached the shifter surround part of the center console, the forward part that frames the shifter gate and ashtray. Else the center console in good condition.

There was a new 2004 B5.5 V6 GLX 5MT there, candy white with grey leather interior. All seats looked very good, as did all door cards and center console. Dash had been removed, but looked like glove box was in back seat with some other dash goodies, I didn't dig into that too deep because I was running late. Interior was dry, all windows and doors intact, so interior is a great get if somebody wants it. Wood grain trim intact in good condition IIRC. Good get from this if anyone wants them are the power folding wing mirrors. Both intact and in good/very good cosmetic condition, unknown working condition. Trunk chrome threshold in this one was one that the owner/dealer never removed the blue plastic film protection from (however the film was a but scratched here and there), so it may very well be in excellent condition.

I picked the walnut shift knobs from both of the above, and the Aero wiper arms and blades from the GLX. I also picked the chrome tip shift gate trim, walnut ashtray, and boot cubby shelf door from the TDI.

What I didn't get, that I made the trip for, was a replacement for a faulty switch in the S-Line Tiptronic Wheel I picked a few months ago and just finished an MFSW conversion on for my personal use. The B5 A4 cabby I went to pick that I knew had an S-Line three-spoke tip controls steering wheel had been scrapped a couple of weeks ago. :banghead:

So I gotta now find a replacement for this somewhere, or try to further disassemble it and repair the switch contacts:

But I did get a set of B5.5 MFSW steering wheel control buttons to keep on deck for if I ever need to return my GLX to stock.

I used my actual button cluster PCBs in the S-Line Tiptronic to MFSW conversion.

Both new VWs were front end hits, so the bumpers and fascias were gone. The TDIs drivetrain was pulled, the V6 drivetrain was not, it may have a roached timing belt—so another possibly juicy pick from that is the V6 5-speed manual transmission with the taller 3rd gear.

Hey Keith do all glx's come with aero wipers? Also sent you a pm.

Lamont
All 2003-2005 GLXs were equipped with aero wiper arms, not sure about GLS and GL models. Now that I think of it, I believe I have picked aero arms from the TDIs in 2004 and 2005 model years, and the '05 I saw today had one—but not both—so I left it be.

They may have been available earlier, but I am pretty sure they were a mid-year 2003 upgrade.

Hey, in the conversational exchanges after my posts this afternoon, don't let it get buried that today there was a fresh 2005 TDI B5.5 and a fresh 2004 GLX B5.5, both with grey interiors, the latter in excellent condition to pick and power everything. Also available on the GLX, a 5-speed manual tranny. :wrench: And power folding—they fold themselves when the switch is turned into folded position—wing mirrors (these are not the power comma folding variety that you have to fold by hand) that are standard on the GLX. Mirrors are pre-2005 change to B6 oval design and do NOT have integrated turn signals.

I'll shoot pictures tomorrow or Wednesday. I know somebody is gonna ring me for something off these chassis. ;)
