What about your SAIP? Do you hear it work while on cold start? Could be a broken pipemor something related to the SAIP. Also, check your kombi valve, if your saip is not working and it is full of water, your kombi valve should be changed.

 

This is usually Gas Cap, Vacuum Lines, Purge valve.

 

just ordered another Purge Valve...49 bucks. Will keep fingers crossed.

Could also be SAIP, combi valve(s)? My guess would be vacuum lines though. Cheap and easy to replace and usually need to be done anyway!!

 

IF vacuum lines would be running LEAN and poor MPG.

This happened to me too. turned out I had a quarter to 1/2 dollar size hole in my intercooler.

 

Replacing the purge valve fixed it. Code gone, on to the next problem on the never ending list.

 

What passat you have?Does this BOSCH purge valve fit in 2000 GLX V6?

 

I have a 2003 GLX with the 2.8L V6 (ATQ). I think the part is the same for all the V6's. But you should be able to look it up by model year to confirm that on the website. Or, just call the dealer parts department, they can confirm the VW part number for your car and you can search the website by that part number. Good luck.

I ordered purge valve from getcoolpart.com and replaced the faulty part just now.
Hopefully P0441 code's gone forever

 

Why is the price for 1.8T $125.69 and 2.8 only $46 How much of a difference is this valve?

 

You need to shop it around. Dealer wanted 137 bucks, found it online for $46. Depends on where you look. I found that it varies widely. Try getcoolparts.com.

 

getcoolparts.com shows that this is the same part whether ATQ or AHA engine code. Should work on a 2000 GLX.

Is this Purge Valve hard to install? I have gone to several shops and replaced hoses of hoses and that P0441 still wouldnt go away. I just ordered mine from getcoolpart.com and hopefully it fixes it. Good thing I have similar car FriscoVW.

 

Not hard at all.

 

It's ridiculously easy. Takes less than 10 min. If you've changed your own air filter, you'll understand exactly what to do.

 

OK here's what I did and I have been P0441 free for 2,500 miles, (instead of the code coming up nearly every 300 miles). All i did was take the Purge Filter locatied on top of the air box, I disconnected the valve from the in and out lines, took pressurized air and shot it through for 20 seconds or so. put it back in and connected the lines. Also after every fill up I crank and torque the fuel cap to the best of my ability to get the tightest turn I can. Hope this helps because it did for me and its definately better than spending 80-100 dollars on a new purge valve.:driving: BTW I have a 2002 VW Passat 2.8 GLX non 4 motion 120,000 miles

 

you can also use a cadillac catera purge valve they are the same thing but for the bracket that is built into the Catera's valve which wont mess with installing it on a vw.

 

Parts Geek has the purge valve for 35 bucks for the 02 Passat glx 2.8.....I need one, can't shake the 0441 code.
